Hundreds if not Thousands in the US alone. Heck, there's one two miles down the road from me. It wouldn't make a list of top 50 places to see in the states.

    9. Most of those places I have no desire to visit.

It might be interesting to see how many states have been visited.

Horkn, if you were just going off memory, you did pretty good at spelling Multnomah Falls, you just added an “i” that didn’t belong

As far as waterfalls go, Oregon, and Particularly Portland, are very blessed. Multnomah Falls is just 31 miles from Portland, and has a total drop of 620’. The upper falls drops 542’ in a single drop, the lower falls has a drop of 69’, and there is a 9’ loss in elevation between the pool below the upper falls, and the crest of the lower falls.
Multnomah Falls is listed as the Second Highest year round Waterfall in the United States

Willamette Falls, is less than 20 miles from Portland, and is the Second Largest, by flow volume, in the United States

There are many other Spectacular Waterfalls in Oregon, especially in the Columbia River Gorge

Then you probably know that the last “e” in Willamette is silent, that is another name that gets verbally butchered on a regular basis

Hey, if seeing Alcatraz from shore or going by it in a boat or even from the GG bridge on a not too foggy day counts then make mine 23.
Touring Alcatraz some find interesting. I'd rather visit a local winery, but that's me.

That’s kinda like the Hollywood Sign, how do you “Visit” it?

I’ve seen the Hollywood Sign, but it was definitely a “Meh” experience. I have seen it enough on TV and in Movies, that seeing it in person wasn’t a big deal

Like Horkn mentioned, there are many other things/places more deserving of being on this list, than some that did make the list, his example of Redwood National Park being an excellent one

16 for me and yes that includes the Mall of America. I’m a big baseball fan and needed to see the dome the Twins played in their last year before opening up the new stadium. Wife had no interest until I mentioned the mall. A quick 3 day trip was planned within 24 hours.

I will add that Central Park is pretty cool even though it’s locked in the middle of NYC. Once inside it, it’s pretty easy to forget that.

Last summer brought me out to Oakland to see the A’s played their last season in the Coliseum which allowed me to hit Alcatraz, the Golden Gate, and some redwoods (not on the list). I have 16 stadiums under my belt so far with the goal of hitting them all. Some teams will be repeated though as some of the stadiums have been torn down and replaced with newer ones.

I guess it depends on what you call "visiting " it. There's a hiking trail/service road that goes up to the radio tower that's right behind the letters and that gets you about 100 feet away behind the letters. The hike is worth it for the view from the spot. You can't touch the sign because there is a fence around it to keep vandals away. There's a couple other trails that can get you close but there's also lots of homes so you gotta be careful where you go. It can be seen from all over, some places closer than others . Honestly there are many better places to hike, many up in the foothills, especially if you are only in the area for a short time.

I wasn’t aware that you could get that close to the sign, but I rather doubt that I would find it any more impressive.

For me, Alcatraz would be a much more Enjoyable, and Memorable experience than a winery, but that’s what makes America Great, there’s something for everyone

The Redwoods National Park, is a series of parks.
I haven’t spent extensive time in any of them, but I have driven through parts of them literally Hundreds of times.

My Personal Favorite part of Redwoods, is the Jedediah Smith portion, from Highway 199, you can see many Amazing trees, and the ambience is so Peaceful, it is a difficult experience to explain, but definitely worth the effort.

Just to the North of Jedediah Smith, Hwy 199 roughly follows the Smith River. For those that have seen the movie “Bird Box” this is the River the movie was filmed on, and the scenery is even more Beautiful in person

I worked this area weekly for about 7 years, and five days a week, often for several years, in every season, it is Absolutely Beautiful, and I never tired of that part of my route.

New England is renowned for its Fall scenery, the Smith River Gorge in the Fall gives New England serious competition

15 on the list which I am glad to have seen, but my heart yearns for places far off the beaten path north of Duluth MN and into NW Ontario from Thunder Bay up to Lake Nipigon, and parts west. I would like to get around the entire northern section of Lake Superior someday.

I have been to Niagara Falls-it was 60 miles from where I went to college. That’s it!

Add the Hollywood Sign to my Who F-ing Cares list. And I went to Walt Disney World twice and it was about 1.5 too many times. But it was somewhat out of my control both times.

Which is why I said Willamette, dammit. It's an easy way to remember how to say it.

So many people butcher that one
