This is all correct...except the part about needing high octane fuel...and if 100 proof AV gas is the only way to get E Free, then so be it, but don't get sucked into thinking high octane gives more power, just the opposite, octane makes the flame burn slower/cooler.

Wait, I use used fire hose lengths for the bar covers ( firemen get rid of old hoses ). FREE.
    Scabbards cover swords.
Hey, "proof" is for vodka, bourbon, scotch ( Laphroaig ). In this home.
There's an online listing of non ethanol pumps in your area. Usually 90 OCTANE used in cold.
We try to minimize ethanol fuel in 2- and 4 cycle small engines line Brennda says.

Stihl used to recommend 87. They don't have really any higher CR than any other brands that recommends 87 octane. Dolmar/ Makita recommend 87 too. In reality, if you want fresh fuel, which is probably much more important than a 2 pt octane increase, you would want to run 87 as it's used more and almost always more fresh than other grades. I see husky now says they recommend 89 as well. I'm sure that 87 used in any of the saws, even the ones that say 89 is recommended, that there won't be any issues if the saws were only run on 87.

While I don't own a new stihl, I'll keep using 87 e10 in my saws. The oil you use is also a big factor. Back in the old days 32:1 was needed because the oil was nowhere near as good as it is now. The amsoil sabre full synthetic oil says you can run it at 100:1. I've never tried that and probably wouldn't unless I had to. Keep in mind, this is all for stock saws.

I hope you know that that the stations that claim e free fuel can still have ethanol in them? If the company tanker shows up with ethanol fuel in it, they have to take it. This is especially true with any of the big brand name fuel stations. So that site you and others use isn't really trustworthy. The only way to know is to run the ethanol test yourself. They've had ethanol in the fuel around me for 30 years or so. So I've run a few tanks of ethanol through snowmobiles, saws, outboards, dirt bikes and such over the years. If given the choice, yes, I'll run e free in any non automotive engine. But I'm not driving 30 miles out of the way to get e-free and still have no guarantee that it actually is ethanol free.

Will all who call their BAR COVER a "scabbard", kindly raise your little, oil soaked hands ?
    Vote now.

noun. a holder for a bladed weapon such as a sword or bayonet; sheath.
    Holster ?
"Free scabbard" from Stihl ? Did you say "free" ?:doh:

It's not just here in my state. It's like that in every state that has ethanol, which would probably be every state.
