2007 started with a US Stove 6039 insert. That stove saved us a ton of money. Many people didn't like them but I loved mine. Still being used at my buds home. Now using a Quadrafire E2 which is a better stove but needs a bit more attention.

I agree with that . My wife is always asking why are you cleaning the stove again didn't you just clean it ? Because it run more efficient and it only takes me 15 minutes .:saw:

    I have a CB1200 and as I look at the P68 and M55 I now understand what you're saying . Thoughts ?

If you are looking at stoves that need less attention. Self cleaners might be in order. The MT Vernon and M55. Maxx M is a close match to the P68 if ya need something that big.

The Harmans aren't really self cleaners. Yes, They are better at higher ash fuels. But you will likely still need to do a burnpot scrape(search Harman speed bump) on a daily basis.

How much(attention) are you looking to reduce?? Shout me a PM, I'll show ya some pic's of a beast that hasn't had her door opened since October. :p

I am but it won't be for awhile . The stove is a good one no doubt but I do like the idea of the pellets getting pushed into the ash pan and not having to open her up every 2 days for a quick clean .

Being a some time slacker , I've let the burn pot scrape thing go for several days :whistle: and even the daily scrape is only a min. or less :p

Call me when ya no need to touch for a month or two......... :p I'm a full time slacker!! :D

Start a new thread and the Hormone crowd will come!! :D

Seriously Russell A new Harman with a digital controller would be right up your alley....... Just need to nail down the BTU's to size it to your application. P68 might be a bit much.........

The only option that kept me from another quad was high low and a constent burn in the cold season. You'll get that from a Harman. You'll still need to open the door here or there. But it can be done without shutting it down, Waiting for it to cool and so on. Harmans are much more user friendly. Enviro's aren't as user friendly! They take tweaks and mods to get them where I think they should be. Not for everyone, But when you get them right they are better than a Hormone IMHO........ But thats just me!! ;)

Yeah, I'd guess less than 20 seconds. Pot scraping can also depend on pellets - those with a "heavier" ash will need the burnpot cleaned more often than those wit a "lighter" ash, and of course those pellets that produce little ash may go several days without a scraping (in my experience). Also depends on if it is run at idle a lot, or on a good burn most of the time (regardless of feed rate).

I gotta add pellets anyway, so another 20 seconds or less doesn't bother me. If I don't need to top off the pellets (3/4 bag or more) - then the pot most likely doesn't need scraping.

Hey, doesn't mean there aren't other good stoves out there and plenty of people happy with their non-Harmans, but they aren't usually as rebid of fans either :loco: :dancer:

guess i'm a slacker as well - in 32 bags of BTUtiful i scraped it once...mostly cause i felt guilty and the stove was shut down. no buildup, speedbump, or clogged holes when i cleaned it sunday. could have kept going except the tiny ash pan was full! oh, and the igniter chamber was full as well
