Sorry,have to go with you.Made some calls to friends(as I have only worked on a few p series),and they confirm they cook like yours!After keeping this harman I rebuilt last year,I am so impressed with the quality and features,prob.the only thing that I would replace it with would be a european rika,still not availible over here.Also did lots of temp checking last winter(accentras output goes down as ash buildup increases,as half the ash misses the pan and fills up the sides of the unit).Even took a bunch of peltier plates,put on aluminum plates with a pc fan setup(free air movement)boy that did not work,not enough temp. differential(but your p series may work).The accentra works for me because of the small size of my cabin,and I love the automatic features,not good for a big houseAgain,I am sorry,but I am used to working on older units out here,most which should be thrown away,but people are broke.Still rate my integra as one of the best stoves ever designed/made,only reason it is not upstairs is because no auto light.

 

Yes you can.I need to move into the new era of stoves.Older units had very basic controls(think 2 rotary knobs)and the manuals warned about running them on high for periods of time.Your new unit has a pc built in,will probably be hooked to a t-stat,to prevent you from damaging it.The older units had no such items,hence the warnings.As I service older units out here,sometimes I forget these things,sorry.Your new unit will prevent you from damanging itself.As I used to say to people,your gas pedal goes all the way to the floor,do you put it there all the time.The new technology(and gov regulation) prevents these things.

I've never had my P-61 hot enough to create steam or boil water. But I have baked potatoes in it!

 

Both of my Harman's are too hot to touch on top and I keep a kettle on the P43 (although it doesn't bubble until it gets low). Heck, I haven't even stretched the P43's legs yet since I installed it a couple of weeks ago and after 20 minutes of running at 3.5 feed rate and 70* setting on room temp). There is a reason these stoves have a huge clearance requirement compared to other stoves; the P61a has a 20" side clearance requirement (14" with added shielding) and the P43 has a 16" requirement (10" with added shielding). For comparison, my Hastings only had a 4" clearance to the side.

 

You may be able cook in it, but not on it. I cook sweet potatoes in my stoves. I've seen others show off casseroles (small dish - not a large baking dish), vegetables etc.

 

I will have a couple of the sandwiches as described and a box of Smoothies!!
