IMG_1142.jpeg IMG_1143.jpeg IMG_1144.jpeg I was hauling a load of rounds home yesterday and some dude followed me into my property entrance. My Glock was at the ready. As he approached me I felt at ease as I noticed his age and stature. He said he had seen me hauling longs many times over the past year and wanted me to clear a few dozen downed trees. I met him later on his property and estimated about 10 cords worth of hickory, hard maple and white oak. Started cutting today. A lot of cutting involved to get to the good stuff.

    Want that hickory.

I'm stuck in a situation where I have a handful of hickory trees and they're all mature and healthy. I'd love to get some bits for my smoker but I have no way to get at the branches. They're all 30+ feet up in the air.

There have been plenty of crazy ads on fb lately. Multi-thousand dollar trees for sale, free trees that you can cut and haul the brush too if you have insurance. One ad actually said sold! Lots of brush piles labeled as fire wood. I have about 60 cord so far and more to haul home. It’s going to be busy around here for a while.
