I've heard that about cats and milk. I call BS on this. I and everyone I knew gave cats milk and no problems with it. And you can bet on farms, at least years ago, always had a big supply of cats and we all gave them milk.

Whole chocolate milk is returning in Ct. So far just half gallons that I’ve seen. Yeah, low-fat milk tastes bad right out of the store, can’t drink the stuff.
In central Ct they started a milk delivery service just like the old days. Glass bottles delivered weekly. They also sell whole chocolate milk. It’s all expensive tho. $5 a half gallon and that was before the big inflation jump.

Mmm chocolate milk. I like whole milk too. Just have to watch the amount of sugar in any of that.

I used to drink whole mile exclusively for awhile. I then switched to 2%. I can't stand skim. It's nasty. It seems to have this faint blueish tint to it as well.

I like the taste of chocolate milk, but I can't do the sugar in it. With as much milk as I used to drink, (a gallon a day), that is a LOT of sugar. So I always drank white milk.

Lactose never bothered me though, obviously. :D

Turkey Hill Dairy | Premium 1% Lowfat Chocolate Milk

Yikes, a gallon of this stuff contains 320g of added sugar! A cup alone has 20g.

A few years ago I cut all processed sugar out of my diet for 30 days. That included ANYTHING that had sugar listed as an ingredient. Before eliminating it, I had read how cutting it out would make my body feel so much different and how after a little while, I wouldn't have cravings for sugary items. I can say that I did lose weight in that time but I didn't notice any difference whatsoever in the way I felt or in how I craved sweet foods.

How many wandered off and puked the milk back up later and how many were really farty cats ? :)
Hey, most of the dairy farms around here did the same. As did/do non-farms.
If you got those cats hooked on opioids that wouldn't mean opioids were good for them. They'd likely be really happy cats.

Physiologists studying the reason behind lactose intolerance found that mammals are born with a high degree of production of the enzyme needed to digest lactose sugar in milk (it is needed to survive) and as mammals age and become adults the production of that lactase enzyme drops off to nothing or near nothing. Adult mammals just don't need milk, especially milk from another mammal.
The keyword there is need. Want, like, enjoy is another ball of wax.
I'm not a physiologist so I do not possess the qualifications to peer review their studies. I can respect their work and maybe even hope further studies prove them wrong but I do have enough of an education to expect they are right.

Humans need calcium. More so as they age. Osteoporosis. So unless you want to eat a bunch of fish bones or have a glass of beef broth daily, milk and all the wonderful products it produces and is contained in are necessary for good health. What difference does it make if I eat cheese or drink milk? Should I have given up cheese after kindergarten? Anyone like Iced cream? It's frozen milk! No other mamals make cheese that I am aware of, but I'm sure even those who don't like milk enjoy a good pizza eh?

MMMMMMM cheese!! Those of you from WI should know what good cheese curds are. Under -NO- circumstances should you refrigerate fresh cheese curds, they are to be eaten room temperature and will last a 2-3 days and will remain squeaky for that duration. Refrigerating them completely changes the texture and taste. I've been known to buy a bag fresh (still warm from manufacturing, as they are delivered every morning) and eat the whole damm bag myself in one sitting.

This place is between where I grew up and where our family farm is. As a kid my grandparents would stop and pick some up for us.

That's exactly what the dairy lobbyists want you to believe.

Big Dairy has been pushing their lobbying for over 80 years. Apparently rather successfully.

I learned the same exact fact about cats in vet asst. class in the mid-late 80's. I don't believe it now, nor early neuter/spay is safe. Horkn commented something and researched regarding sterilization. Husband and kiddo have milk problems. I have him buying A2 milk for now and it's a bit better but I really want to do raw milk and kefir for them to see if they get results like I've read. I just never get to town :picard: LIke you mentioned a few years ago eat beans more often in moderation than having discomfort after downing an infrequent bowl of pork and beans. LOL I think this was an off shoot from Blazing Saddles

Big dairy is nothing compared to the coffee cult. They get so many addicted to it.

    :p

Except  I'm addicted to Colombian = tarrifs = higher price. I don't remembre where France is for wine tarrifs.

For me nothing quenches my thirst like good old plain water. On the subject of milk I never really thought about drinking it when I was thirsty from working/ sweating etc. On the farm we grew up drinking raw milk. Quite different from the stuff you purchase in the store. All the cats, dogs, pigs, & even chickens would drink any milk spilled accidentally or that was poured in any dish for them. I suppose they are just opportunists but there were many other things food & liquid wise that didn’t interest them. I know I read a Weston A Price article about his experiments with cats and he discovered when you fed cats raw milk in they’re diet they seemed to thrive and reproduce normally but when they were given pasteurized milk they became sterile but I don’t remember how long it took. I found that quite fascinating. Like I said I don’t drink milk much anymore but when I did nothing milk wise tasted good after drinking raw milk. :)

Who are they? We have Carr Valley over by us and they are pretty darn good. Gotta get 'em all fresh to compare. I don't recall who you guys have over by the Milwaukee part of the state.
