I drink Powerade Zero with electrolytes. I found a flavor that I like and have stuck with that. Helps control cramps.
A big insulated "flippy cap" thermos thing full of water. I only cut in winter so it staying cold is typically not an issue. I also take a big container of cashews into the woods with me. I try to stay away from sugar, period. It's been decades since I had a soda. When I have simple sugars, my blood sugar levels go up like everybody else's, but then my pancreas releases too much insulin and then my blood sugar levels drop fast and too low before eventually recovering. During this recovery process, I get lethargic and irritable. I was tested back in my teens and I was told I was borderline hypoglycemic and I just need to regulate it with diet. I feel SOOOO much better when go off the sugar drug for periods of time. I probably have an after dinner dessert more often than I should though. Once I have sugar, my body craves it, just like a drug. This leads to my blood sugar levels going up and down and cravings all the time. If I go off of it for awhile, cravings go away...until I decide to have something and then it starts all over. All of us would be doing ourselves a favor by not consuming that drug known as sugar.
RCBS ever heard of BCAAs or branched chain amino acids? Here's the product i use every day. It has really made a difference for me. I can work harder and longer and not be sore the next day. Evlution Nutrition BCAA Energy Here's another product of theirs I've used and can tell a difference. EAA7000 (Powder) Other than the BCAA in the morning and evening i drink water the rest of the day.
Works great for cramps after being dehydrated, stops em right now, at least for me it does! Sometimes I just eat a "dill pickle sandwich", then have a swig of the juice to wash it all down...leg cramps gone!
We always have Liquid IV powder here at home. Typically only use it when we know we're overly dehydrated. When I'm doing any amount of work, especially on hotter days, I always have a large Hydrapeak container of ice water. No way in heck you'd get me to drink pickle juice. Yuck.
Water and Gatorlyte or Pedialite also Liquid Iv or Drip Drop. Regular Gatorade and Powerade are trash. Water can only so much you need electrolytes to prevent cramps. The big brown sweat box is basically like being in a sauna all day. I love when I have salt crystals stuck to my face.
I drink water, a lot of water as compared to some. Usually at least 2 gallons a day to be exact and I use Fast Lyte RAW. A bag of the raw minerals has 240 servings of Potassium, Sodium, Magnesium, and Calcium and NO SUGAR. It is basically the same ingredients in LMNT, minus the sugar and dyes. You can taste a little salt, but it is unflavored and can be added to anything. $30 bucks as compared to the other stuff.
Most definitely add a little salt, and not that table crap. A couple pinches of pink Himalayan and you will notice a difference.
I like liquid IV. The packs you add to water. I also like the LMNT water additives. Both are sugar free. Otherwise I like Gatorade, and I get used to the zero sugar versions, but liquid IV and LMNT are better
There's no sugar in LMNT. I'll need to look into that Fast lyte RAW . Be carefully with water intake. You can drink too much water. It'll actually hurt it lol you if you drink too much water. Drinking 2 gallons a day is dangerous. If you're using additives that makes it less dangerous, but that's still excessive.
My boss's dad was having night time leg cramp issues. Someone told him to drink pickle juice when it happens. He prettymuch swears by it now. I've seen the little 2oz bottles of it at the store, marketed for athletes and such.
I greatly reduced my intake of it. I was headed towards diabetes under my old habits (and blood pressure meds). It would seem that my efforts are paying off. BP is way lower than it rightlfully should be. Sugar intake limited to what's in a quarter cup of yogurt and a glass of lemonade in the evening. Will still snack on sugar junk a bit here & there. I drink exactly one soda a week. I like a mexican coke with my chipotle lunch treat. I *try to mostly wood work in the cold air, but I got a lot of other crap I gotta get done when it's hot.
I start preparing the night before. Usually just water. While working I also look at the color of my urine and how often I pee. No pee = dehydration. You want pee to be clear.
