Thank you! And you mean this ol girl? She's usually sleeping in the sun by the sliding door these days lol.
eatonpcat thanks! It was basically mrs pineys dream kitchen come true. I can't take all the credit as we had some great friends and our family help us along the way. We also hired contractors for some of the larger jobs like the foundation and initial framing. Insulation and sheet rock were also hired out because it was almost the same price as me buying the material and doing the labor.
The existing porch floor is Doug fir and it's probably 40yrs old and it's in fantastic shape. So I decided to use it in the new porch section as well. It's a covered screened in porch so not alot of direct exposure but we do get some wind blown rain and snow from time to time but it's not too bad.
Railing and screening in the porch. Had to build a screen door because it was an odd size rough opening.
We wrapped the structural beams and post with some diy rough, barnwood pine boards that little piney #1 helped me make.
The front of the house got board and batten vinyl siding while the sides got double 5" clapboard. Both kids loved jumping in to help with certain projects.
It's a really nice looking wood and pretty darn tough. If it stands up to two kids, two dogs and the weather here in the NE then it's ok in my book.
Nice build thread! It is good to have a project like that behind you. Thanks for sharing some great memories.
