Had another uninterrupted day. Jumped on the batch of white oak tops and cut out about six logs. Cut a couple into rounds.

cut out logs in a couple other spots- more oak and som maple. Cleared some saplings in a sink hole so I can shove branches and ugly logs into and clear away the new opening.

Have to shut down for a bit, as some guests arrived with a camper to hunt opening day. I want to split as I go so season can begin. Decent temperature to work in.

Looks like a target rich environment! A day or two of sawing sure would be nice about now. Keep the pics coming. They’ve been .

The Wood Wolverine , After a shower and a sit down in front of the TV, the nap came on without warning.

other bonus has been throwing odd stuff into the OWB. Getting rid of debris and reducing getting into the stockpile for next season. Have another week of burning according to the forecast

Man, I have more progress but the wind is such a nuisance. Broke a chain for the first time too. Will hit it again tomorrow and post pics.

used the Kubota to trim along the creek banks and cut back briars and autumn olive. Heading back up the hill I loaded a few rounds and drop them by the splitter.

In a few days I should get a narrower grapple to replace my 72”. That thing was so heavy it took the fun out of using it. Made the tractor a little scary on uneven ground.

Once I get the new grapple I will goat it hard. At the place where “do I bring g the splitter to the rounds, or the rounds to the splitter?” Hopefully I will bring the logs to a work are and cut them up in grapple.

Met a dinner guest and it was raining when I got home. No sundown working tonight

I don't worry about that area so much. In dusty conditions I have to clean off the air filters when I refuel. This is an older Stihl thing, modern saws have much better filters. Saws are designed to work all day.

Looking good there, you are getting a lot cleared and processed!

Since you have a tractor, you can drag large sections of the trees to the splitter. I split where I stack or as close as I can. You can drag surprisingly large sections of trees/logs with a small tractor.

Dok440 Most of the time that would be good, but the tops are close to some small sinks an hollows that I will just give a push into.

nice and soggy ground now. Two days of sunshine, this week, but lots of rain the remainder of the week, means no joy.

I have some repairs and organizing to do inside. The Mule 4wd doesn’t seem to be engaging, so I will tear into it, and inspect brakes, couplers and whatever.

Still awaiting the call to pick up my smaller grapple. Bright and early in the bottom pasture decided to knock out the rounds I dropped off with the tractor.

Worked out to one Mule bed worth, with a few splits thrown onto a pile that will season in place. mix of two footers for the boiler and smaller pieces split into quarters for the fireplace.

Oak and maple, with no snakes.

been a while. I traded in the huuuuge grapple that made the tractor unwieldy due to front end weight. Picked up this single cylinder unit. I am a little disappointed in my dealer for suggesting the larger one . I bought the tractor from him, then had the front loader installed and 3rd function for the grappler.

the front end weight affected the rear tire traction. This new lighter unit handled some nice size and very long logs. I hit the ground running today and cut up several logs that have been mocking me. I would go past them thinking “you’re next “.

Tuesday is delivery day for the Woodland Mills chipper and stump grinder, so I didn’t bother with putting treetop branches together.

Had two or three logs that I cut into rounds, holding them belly high, the Farm Boss was a champ.

Used the grapple as a bucket and hauled rounds right to the splitter. As my slogan says- turn wood into heat energy with as little human energy as possible.

cutting rounds at the splitter is the general strategy. I have I think a cord laying about ready to split.

within the next couple weeks, i should make great progress on the clear cut behind the house. I intend to make it more like pasture and not have trees regrown. The present blessing is the slope of the clear cut area blocks the ugly stuff from view at the house.

I think I cut mostly poplar and maple today, but plenty of white oak on the roster.

Back at the clear cut cleaning. Attached the chipper to determine shaft needs a little trim. Spent a few hours cutting up some good size hickory and maple logs, that I had been eager to get to.

Those logs have mocked me every time I drove past. I have a busy week with county fair, with my Lions Club roasting ears, so not sure how well I can get to chipping. Will post picks.

Thunderstorms all day. Hopefully tomorrow I can get the chipper to work. The Canadian fires really hazed things up yesterday.

The Chipper is going after a no joy beginning. Did a readjust on the valve per a Youtube demonstration. I made a little dent but it was so danged hot. This is going to be a sunrise and sunset endeavor to get some cleanup. I may buy a larger electric chainsaw for trimming limbs just prior to feeding. I don't want to be yanking on a gas saw every time I need a work on limbs
