Ronaldo, you already have several Fiskars tools, so you should understand their quality, I Highly Doubt that you would be Disappointed with the Fiskars Pickaroons, just my Opinion Doug

Been a while since I've been on... lots of good insight on here. I still haven't bought one. I love my Fiskars tools, but I'm afraid it's going to be too short... trying to get by with just one purchase of a hookaroon/pickaroon.
I made one today, my first one to ever use. I found an old True Temper Kelly Perfect double bit ax, in some junk that my dad had. I think he must have broken it, sometime in the past. He was kind of hard on axes. It had the bottom corner broken off of one bit, so I drew out a pickeroon like some of pictures I seen on here with a magic marker. I cut it out with a zip cut and shaped it with a grinder, being careful not to heat it up and keeping it cool with a wet rag so as not to ruin the temper. This thing works great, as I tried it out this afternoon. I don't know why I have went all of these years without one. It's pretty cool, but probably more dangerous to use, as it still has the other bit of the ax, sharpened. But I like the idea of having both available at once. I have always used double bit axes, so I am used to them. I mainly see that I would need to be extra careful if working with a partner on a wood cutting job.
Soon I'll be abusing my fiskars hookaroon when I move my piles and stacks from the southern most part of my yard, into my wood shed. Recently I've been forgetting about the hookaroon and it's been sitting behind the rear seat of my truck waiting to be used as a zombie skull ventilator. I hate moving firewood around, but this should be pretty gratifying.
I just ordered a new Peavey pickeroon with a longer handle. This will complement the shorter handled one I have now
That's old wood in the picture, but I have been splitting and hauling a bunch of Black Locust, lately, not pictured. That Pickaroon really is pretty handy, and I like having the ax side available for the occasional missed limb that that the saw didn't get, and sometimes I split wood with it also, if that is the ax in my hand at the time. I have a heavier 4 lb Plumb double bit, and also 6lb maul I drag out if I have to, but the big Plum gets most of the splitting business.
