Getting to those temps when you start wondering why you didn’t install lights on everything LOL
    I’ll be there soon enough.
    Nice looking wood and stacks.

It was a winter project for me that never got done. Who needs lights when it’s cold outside.

I help my parents heat w/ wood. Dad is 77 and not as capable as he was. Still doing it though. And my son is on the cusp of burning and doesn’t currently have a truck to use for hoarding. His soon to be fiancé has a family farm that has some wood in need of moving so I’m hoping he’ll ask me to help. Actually really look forward to it.

I didn't measure it in block form so I'll have to wait till I finish splitting and stacking to get an official tally. Guess would be 1 - 1.5 cord. I'll keep it separate from the oak. I will tell you this, I could split the chestnut oak all day and a little each evening till it was done, granted some is beyond it's prime. Switched to that little bit of HL and my body is sore everywhere. That stuff is heavy and dense. Much more so than the standing dead chestnut oaks I've been processing.

They're both heavy when green thats for sure. Ive only scored big HL once (of there scores total) and had to quarter the rounds to load. I have a three year old stack and im curious what the MC is on it.

It does split nice and clean though IME.

Dad came over this morning to help. We knocked it out in a few hours. Now it’s time to stack.

I have a couple pieces that will get sawed to size. Too many knots and such. We did shred a few pieces. :(

Nice! Always some that get shredded. Have the three generations made firewood together?

Did you guys get any rain? Couple good storms here overnight with some good downpours.

Yep, my son has helped with paps wood a good bit a few years ago. Not recently though.
And yes, we got a good rain yesterday. Morning wasn’t bad but I had other plans and by the time I got home it wasn’t fit to work outside. Couple good cracks of thunder and a few close lightning strikes too. We needed it bad!
Most of the cribbing blocks were sawed to size. Hate shredding them. Ends up in the fire pit pile.

After a bit of a break from firewood, I got back to it a little today. Decided to stack this honey locust and separate it from the chestnut oak. Had to take a break part way through, I'm sweating profusely just moving 2 splits at a time! :headbang:

    Used an old pool cover.

2 rows are 11' and 2 about 7'. Rough calculation produced 2.5 cords. :dex: Probably just keep this wood here till it's time to burn.

Heck with this heat. Ambient isn't so bad but if you're out in it too long you'll probably start growing gills. :dennis: Time for central air and an adult beverage. :coldone:

91 with 56% humidity here. It’s oppressive. Stacked what I had in the carryall and that was all the firewood I did today.

Pretty sticky here, soaked a shirt. Worked in the garage with the door open. Took about 4 hrs to pull the back window on my new truck and reset it. Found some glass remains so it has been broke and replaced. Whoever did it sucked. It was leaking in the top corner, no wonder, they didn't clean all the old sealer and the nuts were finger tight.

Looks like you at least had some clouds. When is that stated for burning?

I noticed yesterday my three year old stack (CSS May-Sept 2020) of HL had partly toppled. Ill restack and top cover. Wonder what ill get for it this Fall? Im not selling it at regular price.

Sitting on about 25 cords split right now. I'd guess '28/'29 or so. :loco:
And I'd definitely charge a premium if selling. This will be the first honey locust I've burned.

Good thing you found loose fasteners. Good help is hard to find these days. Humidity is now up to 87%. Something's got to give.

I had Safelite come out to replace the windshield in the wifes Odyssey...it had a ton of wind noise after that, and a leak...they came back out and redid it (dunno if the glass was reused or not?) they got the issues fixed, but the second time they forgot to tighten the wiper arm up on the shaft...first time I drove it we took off and it started raining, needed tools to fix it so I turned around and went back home (was only a couple miles away) good thing that didn't happen to my wife when she was a lot further from home!
They kept badgering me for a review...I bet they wished they hadn't bugged me for that one though!

Honey Locust is OK...nothing like that Hickory you got though!
