It's not really far out of my way. It's 10 minutes from where I work, then about the same commute time home. Only bad thing right now is the daylight is getting shorter and shorter.
Yeah! Hate that. Should be able to get a load tomorrow and hit it again sat/sun. Looking forward to the scales too. Touching up two of the long loops tonight. #1 is getting down there. And #2 I apparently got very lucky!
Save it for a stumper. Got to the site today about 5p. Finished up millin’ and bucked a cookie off the big boy. Sorry, I just can’t get over the size of this sucker. I tried as best I could to make a nice clean cut. Heckuva thing when you don’t have enough bar. Almost lined up… Then, this is my strategy. 14 pieces per round. The guy who owns this farm has a 5k scale and said he’d weigh one for me. I’ll take measurements and do a guess the weight. And loaded up. Pretty light load but I ran out of daylight.
Took my time and came up with 105. I’ll ask Mike what he told me the tree guys said, can’t remember. Cut 2 rounds this evening. Got into some major rot. I think he decided to get this tree taken down at a good time. All but these 3 pieces went into my truck. Should be able to get the rest tomorrow.
Quick cordage calc said about 1.5 on the main log. I’m guessing 2 total. My inversion table is seeing regular use as is the ibuprofen bottle. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.
I’ve been working this honey locust over for about 2 weeks now, milling and firewood’n. I’m beat! But I can see the finish line.
