Got the load bucked, tossed down off the deck, loaded and lashed in 4 1/2 hours. Including lunch break and coffee break. Ran the 572 exclusively.
I haven't figured out how to get the reply window to come up soon enough . So I just reply to my post. Got another load out today. Nice 2 cord load. Moved to new choppins today.
Very nice! Working on getting a nice stock pile at home? Looks like a lot less snow in that area, you starting your spring thaw there?
I did a trade with a neighbor , wood for snow removal. He rented a 950 Cat loader and dug out our summer road. Plus he rented a D5 about 5 or 6 weeks ago and pushed out our winter road. Then I'm also selling wood to finance the expenses of the snow removal trade. It's about $50. just for the gas to do the round trip. And buying the wood. It costs me around $120. To put out a 2 cord load . So while that's not terrible. It does add up. But , I also need to keep bringing loads home. If it's a fairly dry summer, I will be able to continue getting wood from both landings.
Where the Cat 225 stroker processor, the green pickup and the D6 is sitting is a 12' deep hole that is filled with snow and debris ( stumps, dirt, root wads , more snow ect. Layered in and froze Hard in layers. It makes for a nice landing but it ain't permanent. The depth of snow in the woods is still around 32" deep.
My house is on the ragged Edge of cell coverage. It very often takes 10 to 15 minutes for a pic to load when I post one. Or for a page to fully populate with pics or the reply window at the bottom of the page. Sometimes it takes 1/2 hour to creat and post a reply. Even with only 1 sentence of text. I've found I can speed that up if I reply to a post. I need to buy and install a cell booster here at the house. But that's hundreds of dollars. So it's not going to happen right away.
Yes, people keep trying to get me to get a booster but as long as I can get the Internet I'm okay and I don't have a smart phone; just a dumb phone and don't use it much. I'm also comfortable on a desktop and I have good service with that. It is not as fast as most but it works for me. If I go on a trip I have a laptop I can use but much prefer the desktop, mainly because of the big screen I have which is much easier on my one eyeball.
I need to get a good Husqvarna ball cap that is not a mesh back. But in fairness, I have 4 Stihls and only 1 Husky at the moment.
Thursday and Friday I got out 1 cord loads. I'm taking it easy on my elbow while still getting something done. I'm still driving on ice.
Snowmobiling heaven. Looks like a 14"=16" bar/chain/saw combo would take care of most, or all of your cutting? Envy............
I have done a whole load with my 251 with a homeowner 16" Oregon bar that is closer to 15" and homeowner semi chipper chain. But in the deck I use my 572 / 28" full comp , chisel filed chisel chain. And plan on getting either 32 or 36" bars for it. With the amount of snow we have this winter. A person Needs a modern long track or long track wide track . The 550 Panther I have is just a get stuck special. 136" × 15" I'm not a sledneck. I was looking at skidoos a month or so ago The 4 stroke 600 154x20" track Skandic looks like it would be just right for me. 2 speed with reverse. Only about 60 horse , but something like 29 mpg and back up rope start. BUT, it's 14 grand. That's A LOT of muny !!
