Channel 3 just did a segment on wood-pellets and oil. I'm looking for the link to post. Kevin Hogan did the story.

    Did anyone else see it??

    "...decision to make"

nope. no hard choice for me.

stove on med-low, oil running a bit here and there.

    best of both worlds.

let the oil take it to temp, let the pellet do the best it can to keep it there as long as it can.

I think that pellet prices will go up further in the long term if you see initiatives like I found in my mailbox:
    ------
Join us for a free webinar with William Strauss, President, FutureMetrics and Emily McGlynn, Director for Strategy and Policy, The Earth Partners LP as they share their insight and knowledge around the topic of “Capitalising on lessons learnt from Europe and exploring the long term potential for wood pellet production in the USA through co-firing industrial pellets”

The webinar will take place on Tuesday, September 8 at 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM BST

Co-firing wood pellets with coal is a well established strategy in Europe, the UK, Korea, Japan, and soon China for lowering carbon emissions while leveraging existing baseload coal generating assets. The same reliable grid-supporting power stations are part of the CO2 emissions mitigation solution. The US's Clean Power Plan has the potential to enable a similar strategy in the US.

This webinar will review the important components of the Clean Power Plan and will show how the policy can support co-firing [Emily]. The webinar will then discuss the technical and economic considerations of co-firing and will show why co-firing lowers carbon emissions and how it is the lowest cost and most reliable pathway to a decarbonized future [Bill].
    --------

Do we have enough wood(s) anyway?

I haven't checked oil prices here yet. I have 1/4 tank left (been 4 years since I had it filled). I may get 100 gallons delivered in a month or two for the shoulder season days if it gets to the 1.99 mark. Diesel is 2.59 a gallon here, and HHO is usually 30 cents less than that.

Oil is $1.99 here. The tank is just about half full, calling for a top off next week.
