Little Bailey, will just put her feet in, the brothers will swim but not a lot, they usually just romp in the shallows, Oliver! and Willow both like the water, Willow is half Lab so it's pretty much a given that she will be in the water.

The bugs were pretty think, so I'm looking forward to getting back there maybe later in the summer or early fall. There was a group of 50 or so Boy Scouts on a weekend outing there, nice kids, they interacted well with the dogs, you can just see their tents and flotilla of canoes in the background, quite the undertaking for the Scout leaders!

Also, Hail to those Scout Leaders for taking the boys on that type of trip. Alot of effort on their part.

I love the last picture of the hounds on the beach. It looks like they are all having a private conversation with the one next to them.

Saw some blue blueberries, still a bit sour yet. Met a couple who was very interested in the Hounds, chatted for awhile, turns out he's a Guide, hunts just about everything, but Bobcat is his speciality, he gave me his contact info so I might look him up next winter and go run his dogs on some Bobcat!

Beautiful day for a hike today! I see in that last shot, the hounds took advantage of that view and didn't leave much space for the owner!

The one on the left is scared of heights? He's leaving.....

Precipice trail is the aptly named trail that climbs the east face of Champlain Mt, on the northeast edge of MDI, the base of the mountain is basically the Atlantic Ocean. The trail is extremely popular both for its scenic beauty and for the fact that you are basically scaling a 500 ft cliff with the aid of iron handholds and rungs anchored to the granite. The trail is closed for a good part of the summer because of some Perigrine Falcon nesting on the cliffs. I was chatting with a grad student in the lab next door to mine who is due to leave in a week and he mentioned he was interested in climbing it before he left but didn't want to do it alone and couldn't find anyone to go with him. I couldn't let that happen, so I said "how bout tomorrow morning, let's start at 8 and I'll get you to work by 10:30."

Looks like an awesome and technical hike! I'd be iffy on that edge with the rungs, but otherwise looks great! Not a puppy friendly hike i gather! :)

Nice pictures! I wonder if the weight of ice bent some of those iron bars.

NOT a dog trail for sure!

I was wondering the same, not sure how they bent, they were all very solid though, I checked, you're putting a lot of trust is many of them.

Took the kids to the beach today!

Up one side of the mountain and down the other, then through the woods a few miles.
    20171001_122701.jpg

You can see the beach in the far left off in the distance.

wonderful pictures. How old is Oliver? One of your fur friends is a Jack Russell. My daughter has a Jack Russell. Loveable animal, but ill mannered. Things he is the king of the group. They have 2 Walker Hounds, and one mixed hound rescue from the south. The Jack Russell is 8 or 9 yrs. old but still has to be on a lead when outside. He also gives the chickens hell every time he get a chance. The hounds know better and know their limits.

Lovely pictures. I would imagine that being stared at by five hounds would wake you up. Our two won't go in the water at all. Cricket doesn't even like drinking from open water if there are too many noisy little waves.
