Pooped puppies! Beautiful all season pictures, but winter wins! Stunning beauty! A team of dogs to break trail, doesn't get any better than that!
Snowshoe with Maple...... Just her and me this morning to Mt.Willard, well almost! Dropped my mittens unknowingly at a shed a few layers & drink break and HAD to retrieve them (you know how important this is) but they were quite far back, so ended the trek then. Put in 2.5 miles, Maple loved it! Trails packed down well, snow over 5' in spots near the summit. Picture doesn't do any justice, stream well below the snow bridge, Maple unsure of going over it. On the trail..... Above centennial pool, quite a drop off....... Maple off trail, azz deep! Sleepy for the ride home.
Had big plans for today, went out this morning, broke a binding about 2 miles in, had to turn around, luckily there have been quite a few people out on this trail and it was doable in just boots...stopped by the local sporting goods store for some new shoes on the way home, they seem much better, the ones I broke were a Reny's special, not worth fixing. Can't wait to get out on the new ones tomorrow, I need to break some trail to some more remote places I like to take the Hounds on a regular basis.
Wow did it get warm today! Got out before the snow fell from the trees, but when it did...... heads up! Glad your fixed up and ready for another day in it!
I am betting maple will be snoring tonight.. lady exhausted after their 1 mile jaunt.. no pics... wife and daughter out.. my hands covered in grease figuring out water parts went on sleds
I was tired after, and Maple laying around all day! Winter takes a little more outta ya. Good luck with the sled.
Wishing you a Very Happy Birthday today DaveGunter from campinspecter, Shadow, Cricket and me. Hope you have a fun day.
Beauty of a day for an early spring hike. Right around 8 miles, a long approach hike and about 2K total elevation gain...tough going in the snow at times not sure who is more worn out me or the Hounds
Awesome pics Dave! Today was a beautiful day to get out. Musta felt great to get high in mother nature. Pups resting well!
More great pictures with that clear sky. Do you guys bring some sort of dog energy food or snacks to give them on these hikes?
I don't worry about their energy level too much, I always have my training treats with me, puppy jerky, is what I call it, just plain dried beef.
That's Mount Desert Island, where I live and work, 2/3rds of it is Acadia National Park. The pic is taken from Schoodic Mtn on the mainland.
Beautiful summer day today, finally! Ran the Hounds around on the public reserve land. Scoped out this remote beach for a future camping expedition. It's accessible by boat or a 3.5 mile hike over two summits. Sackd out on the couch now...guess I get the floor!
Great pictures DaveGunter! Any furry water activities on that beach? Looks like an awesome place to camp! Might need to pay a visit there some day for sure!
