I don't think so. I grew up about 3 miles from here and as far as i can remember, we didn't have any hickory on our 13 acres at home. We had a ridiculous amount of oaks! Big oaks! 33 on 2 acres just around the house/yard. Gosh i hate raking leaves...:faint:

There seems to be plenty of hickory trees around our neighborhood where we live now. I've only been cutting on my neighbor's properties the last few years.
There are also some beach trees ive been keeping my eye on...:saw:
My neighbor right beside me has 35-40 acres that he select cut about 3 years ago, so there is an endless supply of BTU's ...

We have a lot of Shagbark around here. I have dozens on my 21 acres, along with a ton of red oak, maple, ash, cherry, birch, and pine. I spotted an unknown to me species yesterday that I hoped was black locust, but I believe it may be Hawthorne. Wish I had some Osage orange to try out. Everyone has to select from what they have in their area.

That is nice Tim. Get it! So now you have hickory wood, nuts, venison and coyote. I have a feeling you are going to have a great Christmas this year.
