Seems to be the pattern-nothing foretasted then all of a sudden-snow. I think that they really know about the storms further in advance, they are just SCARED TO TELL US
Its shifting out to sea, now just an inch here. *** Battle Stations has been cancelled *** - return to your quarters.
Our weatherman man just said: "So what if we forecast 3" or 6" - once we get 2" we're shutting down" folks around here get so worked up over the few inches in variation in a winter forecasts(not their forte) all I want to know is when I can be on the roads when all the other idiots are home or already in the ditch
WHAT plow trucks down HERE? it's plain submission - people just give up(after clearing store shelves of milk & bread) and sit home. Bein a formah Mainah I ain'ts gots that luxury
I'm giving in as I have a roofer coming by today to get the snow off my 2nd story back roof. 300 bucks to get the heavy snow off and 100 to work on the ice that is causing leaks in 2 rooms. I really hope that he can get the ice taken care of as its on the pitched front roof and half way up. This really hurts the wallet as we are most likely getting into melting temps in the next few weeks, but a non forecast heavy wet snow could very well be the final straw. Sigh...this stinks ! Frankly if he doesnt think he can get to the ice on the front, I may pass on the whole job as that area is my larger worry. If we were forecast for normal temps in the next week I would even be thinking of this, but at best we are 2 weeks out from some weather sites.
Yup $400 bucks out of pocket for something that never had to happen if it weren't for mother nature. My wife hit a deer last year and instead of having the insurance take care of it we chose to pay out of pocket. $600 for a dumb animal that didn't have the sense not to run out in front of a speeding vehicle. That's life I guess. As for the snow. I checked the next week and a half for southern NH and it looks like no major storms with temps creeping up into the 30's and possibly 40's.
They came early and I got away a bit cheaper-300.00 which is their minimum house call. They got all the snow of the back roof (about 18 -20 inches in some areas), broke up the large and growing ice dam in the back at 3 places (both sides and middle) and got a good amount of ice off the front. They couldn't get all of it off the front as it was too dangerous for their guys to get to without proper equipment like staging, but it should stop the leaking. Strong sun today on the front will help as well. I guess its 300 bucks for insurance and piece of mind and like any insurance its worth it if you use it and not if you dont. At least now if they suddenly say that we are getting a foot of heavy wet chit mid March, I wont be freaking out. But, I swear I head the upstairs walls sigh with relief when they were done
