Don't tell me they have Toronto Maple Leaf jokes in the US as well? I thought only the rest of Canada made fun of Toronto!!!
This upcoming weekend guys in the northeast again? Portland, Maine getting hammered? Do the schools close up that way? Have the kids has a lot of school off? Crazy stuff!
They do close schools but as kid you actually get up earlier than normal to listen to the radio to find out if school was called off I think most of the area is on winter break this week
Ayup. I have never "raked" my roof. The ice dams on the back dormer (full dormered South facing side of a Gambrel) are hard to ignore. I see next Saturday is a warm up and rain forecast... so looks like I have to find the time to do it.
I love snow! Last year was like what the NE is getting this year. We have about 15" sitting in the ground, but I like extreme weather.
Yes, this is winter break week in MA. I think for NH they are on break next week. In my town at least, we have had a number of snow days - they build 5 extra days into the calendar to make them up in June, but if we go over that they start taking days off April vacation. I believe the last I heard was that we are over that threshold. In Boston its even worse... some of the storms resulted in 2,3 even 4 show days due to all te problems with the trains and not being able to clear streets. Boston is talking about cancelling April vacation and maybe even having Saturday classes.
well just a couple more inches of that tihs coming down. best part of the day is the pea soup w/ ham is on the stove. cooking has turned into the best part of winter as I've aged. got into home made beans this winter and we'll never go canned again.
I don't know either...... supposed to be a long lasting storm, so I've heard, but no forecast totals yet. We are north of the mix line, but temps on Sunday are supposed to get above freezing. I hope we don't get freezing rain!
This one has me nervous... Im near the line and they think we could get rain here... like an inch of rain. If that comes down on all this snow it will be real trouble. In other news, the leaks I thought had stopped - didn't. Warmed up to 30 here and I get home to find lots of small damp spots on the ceiling in the living room and dining room. the leaks must have just froze up and now thawed.
getting a little nervous. ICE DAMS continue to build on my home. Called 10-12 local roofers and most no answer. commercial roofers won't touch residential and some residential won't do snow? one window leaking outside don't know if it will stay out. forecast for ice and rain and temps in the 40's. hoping to avoid Jerry's problem, good luck guy
