Worked on this hemlock new years weekend and then again this past weekend. It's been down for 2 years yet still has an MC of 25. ordered a 24 inch bar to tackle the trunk section
I take whatever comes down or needs to come down... mostly maple, birch, and spruce. This only the 2nd hemlock in 11 years.
Saw came with a 20" bar. I'm sure it would've worked fine. I just used this tree as an excuse to get a longer bar...hoping the extra reach will be easier on my back
Baldhornet , please post some pictures of that darling little bird on the pet thread if you find time. He/She is so beautiful and sweet.
I was gonna say “nice excuse to get a 24” tsumura bar” but I see you already acknowledged that. that 562xp is a sweet looking saw.
Poisonous Hemlock is a Class B Noxious Weed, and completely different from the Hemlock Tree Deer will eat Hemlock (Tree) foliage as high as they can reach, and though I have never tried it, I have read that a Tea can be made from Hemlock. My understanding is that Hemlock has some Medicinal Value (Again, the TREE varieties) I have handled and Burned plenty of Hemlock without any problems. Hemlock is much more prevalent in my area than oak or other hardwoods, with Douglas Fir our Premium Firewood, with White Fir very Common in our area as well Doug
Is hemlock the tree that turns yellow and loses its needles every year? I had never seen it until I visited a friend in northern Idaho. Really cool looking trees if that’s what it is.
Those are tamarack trees...they are cool. We have some at the edge of a small bog. Also planted a couple at home and they are doing really well
I can see the look in her body language and eyes, what a happy sweetheart!! I had a (blue crowned?) conure named Roxy along with an unusally trained parakeet. They loved eachother and Roxy tried SOOOOO hard to learn how to talk and whistle tunes like my parakeet but never got the hang of it. They were always in open door cages and participated in everything we did inside. Sure do miss it and get such a KICK out your pictures of her, thanks !!
Bald Hornet, is that a Sun Conure? Wild West, was Roxy maybe a Nanday Conure? wehad a Nanday Conure, when I was in my Teens-Early Twenties, that a Friend caught flying loose in the neighborhood. I was the ONLY person that could get away with wearing a ball cap around Sammy( she ended up being a Samantha) I don’t know if a previous owner that wore a ball cap a lot had mistreated her, but if ANYONE ELSE wore a cap she would Absolutely Lose it, she would stand up as tall as she could, spread her wings out full and SCREAM and Screech at the top of her Lungs. That bird would even react like that if she saw someone through the window, just walking down the sidewalk. That Goofy Bird sure Loved me though, any chance she got, she would land on my shoulder, and snuggle up to my neck https://cdn11.bigcommerce.com/s-vwd...569365784.1280.1280__91995.1569806641.jpg?c=2 Doug
