Are they still? I don't follow AS and other forums very closely for the latest news but sometimes early issues with a particular model tend to tarnish a saws reputation forever.

Couldn't say I'd have to ask the date of manufacture on the saw. He did just buy it though on my recomendation.

I don't think the saws rep is tarnished at all. Pleanty of happy owners love em! The ones that don't have issues run really well.

This is more a dealer issue at this point. We all know there are bad apples for all brands in that department.

Good dealer in town. Not cheap but good. That's too bad about your buddy's situation. Sounds like he should seek out another place to do business if at all feasible.

All the above mentioned is great i was a die hard stihl user my grandfather swore by husqvarna than started using stihl and enjoys them i went from stihl to husky both imo are great saws but if it was personally me i wouldent pass on the husky especially if u have a good dealer local to you they come in very handy at times especially if its a good one i remember making this same choice 2 years ago bought a stihl had some issues got rid of it and love my husky by far both companys are superior chainsaw companys so pick what u think suits you best have fun and goodluck on your new saw purchase

its still an issue, 545,550, 555, 562 and the jred counterparts still have transfer covers that leak from the factory and just a few months ago a brand new 2172 i sold had a high idle that was tracked back to the carb bolts not being tight. That being said i wouldnt worry to much about it because the ones that have issues are probably only about .001% of the saws produced. mass produced items have failures, saws are no different. Good QC procedures should catch allot of the issues but there will still be some that sneek through.

That's a shame. It's plainly obvious the design team put a lot of effort into refining these saws. The design is sleek and efficient, powerful and easy to wrench on too. It's the details that seem to be tripping them up.

It's a good thing there's an enthusiast crowd to help out via the Internet when these issues crop up! ;)
