most androids still have headphone jack, iphones haven't for a very long time.
I just switched to an iphone and I don't know if I'll stick with it. Android to me is a better experience. besides dealing with the privacy aspects of google.

My current iphone (6s) will be 8 years old in September. I was happy with my flip-phone until I got lost in Copenhagen riding a bike and decided I really needed to get a phone with maps display. I got lost in London just walking back to the hotel shortly after but I got a LOT more distance on the lost on the bike. LOL. The flip-phone was awful to text on so almost never texted, now I text instead of calling most of the time. I prefer my DSLR for photos, but you get the shot with what you have and that's most often my phone. My phone collection keeps growing as I have a few now.

There is a lightning to 3.5mm audio jack adapter for those that have favorite headphones.

Yes most do. I got one that didn't and honestly I wasn't super digging but I'm flexible. Unfortunately the ear buds I've been loving for years haven't been made in some time and I miss the quality of sound they had.

You know that a manual today is probably more rare than anything? Getting things together seem somewhat easy but even if it breaks, replacement part are going the way of the Buffalo. Sadly we gotta buy something brand new nowadays to just fix it.

Insurance plans can be nice if you are one to misplace your phone. There is a device in them that allows you to go on to your computer and find where you were last with it. I once left mine in a store, tracked it to the store on line, called them, they had it there for me to pick up.

In this case, it's a little different than people's choices in trucks and saws. But like I said, apple phones do work. As long as you got a good deal on it and it works for you, that's what matters.

His car is new enough that it has USB outlets. You just need to read the manual to make sure that the outlets provide enough amps to charge quickly. Otherwise there are cigarette lighter adapters ( 12v power point) that will get the proper amperage to charge properly. I like the phone holder/ charger combos like this. With the wireless charging, it charges as soon as you put in in the holder.

Your iphone has the magnet charging.

They do sound better. There's some new phones out there that still have headphone jacks, but thanks to apple this is why the headphone jacks are becoming extinct. Apple wanted to pimp out their wireless earbuds, and make a ton of money on those. It's actually genius marketing, by almost forcing the sale. It has nothing to do with the port compromising waterproofness because there's plenty of phones that are the same IP68 water resistance that have headphone jacks.

Some have the jack. Not most unfortunately. Apple liked it first, then Samsung followed apple. LG had the best sound and headphone jacks. After LG departed the phone biz, now only Sony offers flagship phones with headphone jacks. Pretty much all Sony's have the jack. Motorola has the headphone jacks on most of their phones, except the flagships. Today even mid range are more than fast enough. That is unless you are playing online games, which I can pretty much guarantee that nobody on FHC does, it's a moot point.

I'll say this though, the Bluetooth earbuds are very handy, and some sound really good, especially with the advent of lossless audio with some streaming music services. I almost don't miss the corded head phone, even though my phone has a headphone jack.

I view the lack of a 3.5mm Jack as 1 less penetration into complex real estate… and maybe a smidge of cost savings- whether that is reflected in the out-the-door price is unknown to me, but manufacturability has to be positively affected, IMO.

Yep My new to me F150 has a nice set of USB ports and 2 of those lighter plug ins in the front seat alone. I just found that one worked best and I really don't recommend buying the gas station USB cords. They'll likely do well in a pinch but they'll also void your warranties. Phone companies are putting out the double ended C charging cord and that's ANNOYING :mad:especially when everything is USB and you only have wall chargers with that kinda plug not the C end for Androids.:picard::doh:

bluetooth is a lossy codec, so that lossless music you listen to is getting compressed. kind of defeats the point.
my samsung s7 is waterproof and has a headphone jack. there are a few others out there but not many.

Hey Dennis. After many Android based smartypants phones I succumbed to friends and family advice. An Iphone is in my pocket these days. Actually the exact model 11 you just bought. I also put a Otterbox case on mine (the thinner model option for fitting in my pocket easily). The factory charger is all you need. Nothing else required.

I also went to a $35 a month cheapy plan and couldn't be more satisfied. Think I payed a couple hundred for the phone this time instead of seven to a thousand (reeeeeetaaarded:rofl: )

Enjoy your new phone. Check out the picture quality.

Yep. The lossless does improve the quality though. The best there was, was on my LG V40. They had the best sound, with the 3.5mm jack. The Motorola I have has Dolby Atmos and it's good, but not to the level that LG had, as those had audiophile level goodness.

I went with the Iphone when I bought my KIA. With Android, extra steps were involved to use the phone completely hands-free. With this setup, I just open my mouth and talk, and the phone does what I want. It has GPS etc Ask to call a business or anyone in your directory, it does it without taking your eyes off the road. I now have an apple watch which is fully integrated with the phone. It will talk to me or allow me to use it the same as I would with the phone. One feature the watch has is if I should fall hard, it will ask if I want rescue called. Many other handy features.

I'm sure you know but it's still a pretty invasive privacy allowing all that to work like it does. Apples privacy is better than googles but not by much.
Ever notice after discussing certain subjects with people via txt or phone calls, very specific ads relating to that conversation appear? They are listening..

Good to hear. I also spent a couple hundred and my plan is $20 per month. I now also have a case and screen protection.

Doesn't matter what kind of phone you have, this will be the case. And it has been for a long time now. That used to happen when I camped out with bike week friends and that's been 6-8 years or so.

Does that mean we should accept it?
