I was brewing up something like this in my mind. I really like the magnet idea too.

Okay, you guys got me thinking about this so I went got some goodies.
Instead of sticking the tools to the magnets I'm thinking hanging tools with the magnets stuck to the splitter .
Pulp Hook, log tongs and my X11.
The thicker the steel the stronger the magnets are and well Splitters have pretty thick Steel
I got one of these, Retrieving Magnets with Plastic Cover, I tested this stuff out at the store this thing is strong as hell, it's not that big, 2 in. x 2 in. x 1 in. holds up to 100 lbs, probably hang the X11 on it after I do some bending on that eye bolt.

I got 2 of these 95 lb. Heavy Duty Round Pull Magnets and some 1/4", 2 1/2" long eye bolts, I think these will hold the tongs and the pulp hook

Wow these round magnets are stronger than I thought, I hung my X25 on it and it did not move.
I like this idea because I can put them any place I want and if it's not working out good in a certain spot, I can move them to a different spot, no drilling required

I have a big magnet like that I use once in awhile when I do some welding and need to hold it in place. It is not a welding magnet but has the hook on it like you have.

I need to update this thread.

I have been using the Woodchuck Skidderoon to help with splitting and am pretty satisfied with it. However, last weekend while splitting some Honey Locust, I managed to bend the "beak" a bit...maybe 3-4 degrees to the right. How I did this I do not know? The beak is made out of what looks like stainless and is approx. 3/16" thick...it's not chincy. Anyways, I went on Woodchuck Tool's site this morning looking for a replacement tip and did not find one, so I sent them an email requesting how/where to buy one. The response message I got was curious to see the bend, so I sent a picture. They are now sending me a brand new tip at no charge that I was perfectly willing to pay for. I call that standing behind your product! I could've been using it as a pinch bar for all they know, but they are sending a free replacement anyways! Awesome!

Just wanted to let folks know that if they decide they want a Woodchuck brand hookaroon, that they will be taken care of if there are any problems with the product. Made in the good old USA also.

$42 and change later i have a council hookaroon coming from amazon. thanks mike bayerl. i was going to go with the 30" logrite and figured the 36" handle might be too long. thanks mike for your comments on the matter. i got set up with a 4' stihl cant hook at the dealer this morning. life is good.
just a random thought. this is the only forum i am a member of where the denizens are filled with the joy of work. germans from a past lifetime perhaps. certainly the outdoor nature and steady peasant labor feed into this to say nothing of the visceral pleasure of radiant wood heat. it's still an unusual occurrence so good on the lot of you. work is a four letter word for most.
