Yes. Trees that sprout saplings from a cut stump Drove copper nails into an elm stump and nothing grew out of it.

 

Great load of wood. That looks very similar to maple on the inside.

 

The tree of heaven I had needed two years of dry time!

 

Was it in a prime drying location? I CSS some back in September. Heavy when fresh cut.

 

Not a great location for the first summer, bottom of a big stack. Second summer did the trick.

 

Ya I learned that trick also from a old timer.He was a tree cutter.

 

The Chinese use it for cooking fires. Burns medium hot and fast leaving no coals so it’s good for a quick fire that’ll burn itself down and out. Maybe a niche market for Brad? Any campers nearby?

 

How long did yours take to season Joe? You think itll be ready in nine months?

 

I was burning it at about 3-4 months last fall. Just in a fire pit to help get it going. It sizzled pretty well but once it got going it went well. I’m judging just off of that.
My mom is burning some in her cat stove now. She says she likes it. Of course she does. Not a patient woman, it lights off quick which I’m sure is what she likes. No idea if hers sizzles.
So I can’t say for sure how long it will take to season. I split it in small pieces knowing it’s more of a kindling wood and rots like birch if left whole. Was sort of thinking of selling it for cheap last fall to the campers. But alas camping wasn’t much of a thing in Ct last fall.

 

I was burning some TOH branches about wrist size that were cut last spring. I couldnt believe the amount of sizzle and water still in them. They weren't stacked but were piled up, out in the open.

 

Split the rest of the load yesterday and temporarily stacked it. It will get moved to the back once mud season is over. Multi handing is a PITA for sure but with limited room i make do.
