Did you run it through using the stat manually?

With that stove, it shouldn't matter whether it's manual or when the temp drops below set point. The stove gets the same signal either way.

That's why it's been such a strange issue. And being as stubborn as I am, I refuse to ask for help unless I'm completely stumped. I guess I should read the instructions at some point too. :headbang:.
Yes, once I made the adjustments I mentioned above, I manually moved the dial to turn on the stove. It started up and ran for a 1/2 hour before I shut it down. Once it cooled down, I manually started it again.
It also kicked on a few times automatically last night as well. I'll let you know if it acts up again. Thanks for everyone's help with this.

Exactly, that's why I find it weird. My thinking is that thermostat acts funky when you manually change the temp.

It looks like the thermocouple wire is the culprit. After following all of the advice up above including making sure the thermocouple wire is push all the way in, the issue seemed to go away. I didn't get around to buying a new thermostat. Just haven't had time. Then about a week ago, the issue came back. So I reached in and push the thermocouple wire in tighter to the ceramic cover and it's been working ever since. I'm not sure if it comes loose during regular cleaning and maintenance, but now we to check it before we close her up. Thanks guys.

I know I'm late to the show but I had a similar issue and had to push in the wire and resealed twice .

So you actually sealed the wire right into the ceramic cover?? That's brilliant. Thanks for the info.

I hope that works.. But I'd rather have pulled extra wire from the firebox. When you have to remove the pot to replace the gasket? That may be a pain. But so long as it works? That's a good idea!! :)
