"man you guys really can't take a joke." ... ummm, wasn't funny. Now this story, dated yesterday 2/12/20... is funny... and the comments are fun too. Re-branded again... now a "climate emergency"... it's all about the $$. We know you like to read more info Felter... ;)

Global warming was blamed for evaporating the Great Lakes, now blamed for high water levels in Chicago's 'climate emergency' – Updated 2 | Wirepoints

I was only about 10 years ago that people were running around with their hands thrown up in the air when Lake Superior was 3' low. that's a lot of water! What are we going to do? The "experts" quoted were saying it would take decades of years for the levels to recover.

I mentioned to my daughter and 99 just how fickle people are and that something like this can be corrected by good old ma nature in short order.

Yep. Here we are, high levels now. What are we going to do? Its going to take decades for the levels to recover!

And, along those lines, just who was it that decided or chose just where the "normal" water levels of the lake should be at? :picard:

    Climate change is about extremes.
We need a cleaner environment for future generations, not sure what is so hard to understand about that.

Understand completely about clean environment. Always. Not hard at all. :handshake:

Also understand that weather always changes. Always. Its the earth. Part of its life cycle.

The science is change and demonstrable warming. Trips in recent years to glaciers in Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica, Iceland, and the Alps show without any doubt of the major retreat of glaciers
in only the past decades. Take a look at Bjorn Lonberg's "Cool It" for a balanced appraisal of change.
The angst however of what is now "Climate Change" leads to an crisis hysteria of righteousness, not technological and intelligent dealing with solutions.
The belief and denial trajectories lead only to child crusades of politicized bleats of extinction tomorrow. Science is not belief or denial...it'science.
Do I sound professorial ? Well, yes. This is much more than "cyclical".
    So what to do ?
    Hydro.
    Nuclear.
    Wood.
Innovations to come in storage tech.
How many of you are willing to shut off ( not "down") your central heat ? Do you need to heat all the house @ 72F all day and night ?
Do you own a variety of long underwear ? :faint: I am dismissed.

Politics? All about choice. I posted a link to a climate "emergency" story. Your choice as to reading or not... just like all of the links you've posted... all good. And, politics is banned on the site itself, btw...

yes it is all about choice. like how I choose to stay out of politics no matter how much you try to drag me in. or how I say politics are stupid. I think of politics as plural. seeing as how

On politics, we agree... both sides do themselves no favors, from time to time.
