We have ignition! High of ~40 today lows in the 20’s for next few days and Lots of rain in the forecast. Could have fired it up early but with a heat pump if the temperature is in the 40-60 range only cost me ~$0.25 per day. Not worth the work and mess during the shoulder season unless I just want a fire.

Right where I want to be.
Not my first of course, but had one a bit earlier this evening.
Low of 28, so I'll have one in the morning.
It's SOOOO odd using such a small amount of firewood in Oct.

The first significant cold spell is coming into south central PA. Started a fire just now. I've been only heating with wood when day time highs are in the 40s or less for the last few years. Typical from around Thanksgiving till mid/early March. Starting early this year compared to the last couple years.

I'm betting there are not many now who have not started a fire in their stoves.

First fire of the season sparked last night. It was nice to shut the furnace off.
I don't think I'll be running 24/7 for now but definitely for the next several nights.
