Been burning Red oak for the past seven days. The house is drier than Gandhi's Flip Flops :thumbs::picard:

First fire of the season here yesterday. It wasn’t that cold, but a little chilly with the windows over night, and the boss, I mean mean wife gets what she wants in this household. I mean she’s been great about letting me split and stack during the kids’ nap times and all.
I started up with pine and cedar splits, some chips and chunks from the bin, one honking tulip split. And kept it going with some cherry chunks. I had to open a window when it hit 80 inside.

Never heard will cooling. Of coarse my goes 24/7 and the only time it cools is overnight. I am usually down around *200 by morning.
I was creaking pretty good coming up to temp.

Yesterday evening. Some heavy rainfall & wind gusts overnight/this morning. Poked the bed of coals & added some small odd pieces about an hour ago.

Last night! And I'll keep it going all day because the high will only be 50°. Last week on this day it was 96°. Welcome to the Ohio valley!

Yep. For me, just a day later than you. Last night's winds just sucked the warmth out of the house. Got up early this AM to provide morning shoulder fire (pine and uglies) for the fam.

Ditto 2.75" of rain and lots of wind. I really missed wood heat. Had the den go from 65F to 87F in about two hours.
