What’s with the orange toilet paper you have hanging up left of your stove. Embarrassing!

First one of the season, around 45*at 7:30 pm when I lit it. Supposed to get down in the mid 20s tonight, with a high of 35*tomorrow , so it’ll probably be going for a couple days. Burning up some odds and ends, don’t wanna get into my stack until I get it filled up. Then I can measure it up and try to keep track of how much I burn this season. Never done that before! you people are starting to get to me. Once I get it filled it might be almost enough for the season. Never started out with this much wood. You people are starting to get to me. 64E5D3A9-D17B-49B2-88A8-285365414BF9.jpeg

Nor'Easter... That explains a few things. Guess I need to look at the news more often.

Temp has been 51 since last night and through the day today, damp, raining & gusty winds, heading into the mid 40's by morning. I was ready to hold out but Mrs Rouser was giving me dirty looks and the cats were guilting me. So, just a little one to take the chill off and kill some of the dampness.

It is 38* outside now, and I fired up the ideal steel. 3rd fire of the season so far. 74* upstairs now with the stove running downstairs. 20191009_205847.jpg

We don't have to get much snow to be more than the last 4 winters here. It is amazing that I've been plowing driveways only 2 or 3 times per winter lately. I expect that should change real soon though. As for the real cold, I could easily wait for that. I'd like to see a few winters with no below zero weather.

Haha. I know. It’s ridiculous that we haven’t even had the furnace on either. It’s 70°+ in here most of the time.

    First fire.

As is so common for the front range, we have gone from fall to winter over night.

We will, for another year, be cheated out of fall.
Leaves were just starting to turn colors.....now,
they will freeze tonight and just turn brown.
I was ready, though. Drained the pump and blew out the sprinkler lines......just because I can.
I will fire them up again this weekend. Water will run till the end of Oct.
Picked all the apples and pears. My dad was right, that yellow apple tree makes the best apples.
Never had a bushel of pears before. I got about half and the squirrels got the other half.
Picked the last of the Pink Ladys and made a last batch of salsa.
Got out my cycling winter gear.
Life is good and I am so blessed.
