Fire? Heck no, I was in the pool day before yesterday! Last year our first fire was late August, so far not cold enough this year which is ok by me.

We took a ride to Lake Placid today, the colors just south of here to Tupper Lake were really nice but not that great from outside Tupper to Lake Placid.

We stopped in Saranac Lake NY on the way back to watch a family member play some high school soccer, once what sun was up tucked in behind the clouds, the temp dropped to 50 with a bit of wind and rain, that's when I started to think about a fire.

I expect today I'll see it moving. The brokers were really moving...2.85" overnight, my road got washed out pretty good and alot of other roads.

We've been dry, this helps. It'll hopefully help the foliage which is near peak.

Maybe you'll get all the snow? :D

I'd like some tropical moisture to come up the coast right about now. You can keep the snow.

We got another half inch of rain overnight. The official amount for the area was over 1.3 inches that was measured at the airport.

It's beginning to sound like perhaps next week we'll be having our first fire of the season. This is late for us.

Same here, likely Saturday a week. Thurs, fri, & Saturday lowes in the upper 20's. With daytime highs in the mid 50s the house won't catch up enough.

Our ten day forecast says next Saturday morning will be fire #1. Maybe the evening if my college kid comes home and we go do something all day. Or none of the above if wife goes into labor. :)

Being a maple producer and having to watch the forecast ( daytime highs and nighttime lows ) very closely during season something I’ve learned over the years . After about 3 days out it’s just a crapshoot . With that said , I do have some silver maple ready for the early season . Wife opens every window and mumbles something if I burn the good hardwood .

It is ready! I see one area out there could get up to 50". Now that is a snowstorm!!! I'd seriously consider hibernating.

No fire in the for seeable future or at least a week. Heck it is suppose to be 90* Tuesday. The lowest predicted next week is *61

Edited. Wife just closed the window. My 93 year old mother is cold and asked about a fire.
"Sorry mom. I am not going to set a fire. Get up and move around a little or put more clothes on. It is *84 out."

Had the stinky stove burn last weekend with all the windows open and the fans blasting. Then of course it went back to 90. The temps plummeted though and this weekend lows will be in the mid 30's so YEEEEAHHH I'll be burning this weekend.

I don't think we'll have a fire until next week which means after October 1. Not sure we've ever waited that long. But, my wife is starting to holler so we might have a couple short fires yet this weekend. Next Tuesday is supposed to be back up to 80 but then a big cool down after that. We'll no doubt have a fire sometime then after next Tuesday especially with it supposed to be damp too.
