As mentioned, Pro Pellet or Magic Spark are two good brands. They get hard to find once cold sets in. I'm sitting on around 5.5 tons this season, and at least 5 of that are Pro Pellets. Isabella Softwoods aren't bad. They're made in Mount Pleasant. That's a bit of a run up 127 for you, but not bad if you can buy right from the mill. I found a few bags of those and they were decent, but a bit ashy. Try to avoid the Michigan Pellet Fuel (made in Holland). They're not horrible, but for the same price you can get a lot better. There is a Michigan Wood Pellet made in Grayling that I've heard of but haven't yet seen. Vulcans are made in da U.P. I burned them many years ago. Those are near the bottom of my list. Menards sometimes has Somersets. Always look out in the yard, as they don't often bring them in the store (at least they don't in Comstock Park). I was at Family Farm and Home tonight, and they are sold out of Pro Pellets. It's Michigan pellets for the rest of the season. Glad I got the rest of my stash last weekend.
I miss Meister Brau. Yes, I used to drink that stuff. It kinda grows on you after a couple six packs.
I saw a sign on the road today for pellets… called the guy. Vulcan pellets from the UP… $205.00 hard/soft blend and $230.00 all soft (pine)
http://www.vulcanwoodproducts.net/locate.html These sell for $205/hard blend $230 softwood. From the UP... Maybe Smokeshow would know about the as they have a dealer near him.
Didn't know Vulcan had a softwood pellet now. I'll have to keep my eyes open for those and try a bag or two.
Eses in GB has only bad to say about Vulcan. Allegedly rotting out burn pots within a season... Personally never tried them.
Penningtons are the bottom of the barrel. I'd rather burn dog food (it will burn ) Pro Pellets, Magic Spark, Somersets, American wood fiber, Uncle Jeds are good pellets, just to name a few. If you post a pic of the UPC of the no name White bags, someone can come up with a manufacturer for you They may be something great! TSC rebags pellets, and sometimes you get a great pellet for cheap!
Pete, Here's what we tallied on whats in the TSC bags so far! 851050003004 Appalachian Wood Pellets, Inc. I'll go check again! Unfortunately they are all Michigan Pellets last I looked. Seriously they have totally flooded the market around this part of Michigan....
Jtake, Recently saw a post of blazers questions from a guy in se mass. Have they been in New England big box stores with any consistency? I've noticed them on HD website but never in store stock. Just curious, thanks
If heard some HD's had them. But I haven't seen them. Seems MA-NH ans ME. got some, But that was last season burning the pellet crunch. HD has them on their site because the stores out west carry them on a regular basis, We only get them once in a blue moon and you'll be lucky to see them. We do have a crunch on and some of the stores might be getting them? I saw a post where some one said you could search stock on which stores have them. But I'm still trying to figure that out.
I'm surprised that ESES is bad mouthing the competition… forces the customer to make the decision that either you or the other guy is full of s*it. But they may be right… I may just try to buy a few bags to try them… he was out this wek but has some coming next Wednesday. My burn pot is also burned out… but I'm not paying $89.00 for something I can repair in my shop.
New board member Birddog91 says he burns (burned?) Blazers. He lists his location as NE Ct. Might want to give him a shout.
Figures close, But not close enough. Much like the sets that make it to Danbury but not any closer to me! Eerrrr! One of these days I'm going to walk into my local store and actually see some good chit. They'll probably have to call an ambulance after I keel over!!
