Hand Sharpening Options

    I free hand as well. I feel like it is similar to being able to drive a manual tranmission. If your "device" breaks or you don't have it or whatever......if you have a round file, even the wrong size, you still know how to get the job done.

    Obviously if someone is doing sharpening for pay then it pays to use a machine but for my I look forward to sharpening my chains.

    Bought this a few years ago from a guy on one of the other forums (Homelite140). Mostly I round file and play around some with the square file

    Thats rather nifty. Is that his home made jig or a mfd. one? Sometimes ill put the saw with bar in vice to sharpen, sometimes the chain alone or for a quick touch up none of the above.

    Homemade but done very well. A guy on OPE Forum makes them. Can't remember his name, its either Homelite140 or Homelite410.
