They cut back on the oil flow with all 1 series starting with the 441. The 441 was a pitiful weak oiler imo compared to the 044 and all the old school Stihls.

They make a high output oil pump adjuster for them.

I like the autotune/mtronic saws just fine. I think they excel at squeezing every last available bit of power out their CC rating as I believe they run harder than their non auto counterparts/predecessors. I will say this though, my regular carb saws actually start better, especially warm, than the autos.

Once I sold mine to the company they put a 32" bar on it. It pulled it great and seemed to oil fine.

Not being good at working on OPE i love them. I own six mtronic Stihls...201 top and rear handles, 261, 400, 462 & 500.

Ive tried adjusting carbs from scratch based on OEM specs and just about threw the saw across the yard. after 15 minutes of tinkering. The only issue ive noticed is they can be a bit cantankerous in hot weather.

Got my first one five years ago and it was the "carb" version. Turned my MS290 into a shelf queen and it got sold eventually. I bought it new for a song and a dance off ebay and it was supposed to be an mtronic, but for what i paid i kept it. Bought an mtronic 261 a couple years ago and sold the other one to a FHC member. Its my go to saw for the most part.

What length bar does yours run?

So you definitely could tell a difference I. The standard carb compared to the 261c you kept???

Well it only came with a 16” but I have an 18” it will wear forever once she broke in good and I get around to putting it on there lol….

What size bar you run in yours??? And what year was your 261c made??

Honestly couldnt tell a difference between carb and mtronic. First one came with a 20" bar which i used for a while, then switched to 16". My current one wears a 16" all the time. Im one of those cutters that doesnt like to have more bar than i need. Not sure of year of mfr. on either one. When i got the mtronic one it was very vary low hours.

Ya the older I get the loess I like to bend over so use a bar that aids in that…that’s strange you couldn’t tell a difference, by that I just mean I can hear that this saw revs/sounds different in and out of the cut…1000% not a bad thing, just small
chit I notice with it ya know…

For instance when I make a full bar cut, when the cut is finished the saw like fluttered down to file rather than just go straight to idle…like I said none of this is bad, just chit that I ain’t used to ya know…

I have a 362 CM that I got right when they first came out. Hasn't given me any trouble at all. There's my dad's old 362 regular carb out at the family property that I use quite a bit.

Side by side comparison I like the CM better. It seems like it runs angry all the time and the regular carb only will once in while if the moon is right or something. The regular carb is easier to start though, for whatever reason.
