You can tell looking that they are not Pelican. Some sort of difference in the plastic. Otherwise they function just as for me. If you peeled the stickers off nobody would probably ever notice any difference.

Shootin bags... what you'ns filling yours with? Looking at some stuff called shooter's choice (rubber pellets) but am also entertaining... pinto beans? Previously have used the little craft beads but they were 'expensive' relatively speaking. I made some with sand a long time ago. Double bagged but the fine particles still came through and the bag left a dust outline wherever you sat it (just some random cotton/canvass bags I scavenged).

Denim jean material and plastic pellets from an injection moulding company. Product type was contaminated and they were throwing it out. Several family members made them.

So I learned that fake corn kernals are a thing. lol For cornhole bags. I did order a couple new bags off of fleabay yesterday. I think I may use the pellets in one and try beans in the other to see which I prefer. Rice is also suggested but users report that it starts to break down after some handling and use. Plus it will for sure draw moisture. I think the beans will be more resistant based on soak time for cook prep. I don't shoot in the rain if I can help it.

Have a new scope on the way. As always I jumped feet first into the optics rabbit hole before making a decision. :hair:

Was set on my standard which is now Sightron S1, formerly was Nikon pro staff before they took their ball home. So I'm perusing around looking for options and sales and whatnot (driving myself insane) and stumble upon a new to me company. Tract Optics. So the former National Manager of Nikon USA and another man partnered up and started this company. The low end stuff like I buy is made in Phillipines same as my Sightrons and Nikons were. Their high end stuff is made by L.O.W. with Schott glass...about as good as it gets IMO. They are setup as a direct buy company without distribution to keep end user costs down. Looks like they offer a ballistics app like Nikon also. Saw some very good opinions about the clarity from those who have already purchased. Will report back on it.

If you have ever wanted to try out a Sightron, now is a good time to do it and this is a great place to buy them from. Call and ask for Neil or Doug. If you get Neil, ask him about almost becoming a Rock Star and you will hear an interesting story. lol I may yet grab a duplex 12 power just because of the stupid low price. (if you call and are interested in something *not already on sale, they can wiggle a little bit)

    Quick story about Tract...

When I placed the order for that scope I continued to look around their website and saw that they had hats. I liked one so I decided to try to add it to my order. I sent off a nicely worded email as I always do. (part of me is already 'testing' them to see if their CS is flexible enough to accomodate) They cost $24. Recieved an email back the following day...(I had asked for stickers if the hat was not able to be added)

    upload_2026-1-23_15-44-30.png

And so there you have it folks. This is the kind of stuff that I look for in a company to spend my money with. The cost of the hat is moot to me and to Jon, but that's not the point. I replied and thanked Jon for his kindness.

Quick report back on bag material. I like the Shooter's Bag Filler rubber stuff. Enough that I did not try the beans. I'd guess half the weight of sand. Made one of my famous water bottle funnels to get it in the bags. Top half is funnel, bottom is scoop. Realizing I did not take pics of the filled bags. They're cheapies from fleabay but look like the ones at the store.

I couldn't tell you if these are of any account, but $40 is a pretty good price for a gamble. Code: Y5RFQXPC for 45% off. Free shipping. I have one ordered.

So I had to send that tripod back. Had a removable head and when I removed it, the retaining collar and some ball bearings had a jailbreak. Otherwise not a bad little unit for the money.

Had a guy on another forum do some print work for me. Spacers for a Savage rifle buttstock. They come with 3/4 worth of plates. I needed a little more due to my large frame for proper length of pull. Now he's making me some magazine adapters for a Hammerli rifle. If you have a printer or access to someone with, there is a website called 'thingverse' that has a surprising amount of gun part blueprints free for download. Nothing nefarious, just bits and pieces. MDT wanted $8 per quarter inch of adjustment plate, so I sought out alternative.

Got invited to a new private range once we get past the mud. I don't think it's anything fancy (not yet visited), but always happy to have more places to shoot for free.

Range^^ report without pics. Nice little spot up against a high wall back in a holler. My range finder showed a 'max' usable range of 227 yards. We didn't go out that far, just to 100 for a bit. Owner has a couple of steel round rifle targets on racks and several pistol steels and not a whole lot more so far. I was planning on paper and brought my own targets. Mostly a rimfire affair with my 7.62x29 CZ also coming out to resight for a different loading. The shooter of the day for me turned out to be the Ruger Precision Rifle. My Savage 22 mag was being a bastage. I may have goofed something mounting the rings/scope. Ran out of L/R windage before getting on target. Will work to diagnose. Best case I have the scope mounted wonky. Worst case will be a barrel alignment issue.

So nice to frivilously spend hours at a range. I used to do it more often and probably need to start again.

For reasons unknown to me, I am infatuated with straight pulls. 22lr/22wmr combo. Volquartsen has a nice one but it costs 4x what I paid for this one.

It carries Hammerli name, owned by Walther, made in Germany by Umarex. Toggle style bolt action rimfire. No twisting, just straight back and forth. Common in Europe, not so much here. I do also have a Savage in 308 that is straight pull but have not got around to messing with it yet. It's just a different way of going about a bolt action rifle. Kinda neat and faster than traditional style to cycle.

Had the Diana R-22 out last night. Took about a mag and half to get it on point. Fun little rifle with a comfy for me stock. It was making some nice groups with CCi Blazer at 25 yards. The scope I mounted isn't going to let me do much in way of precision past 50 yards. My Savage precision is still fighting me after remounting optic with different rings. Ran out of windage again with impacts about a foot left of bullseye. So now I know it was not my mounting or the rings. Going to put another new scope on sometime this week with the prior rings I was using. If I still run out of windage then it is the rail or receiver/barrel alignment. If I don't it's the scope. Only have one other adjustable objective unit 'in stock' right now and was planning to toss it onto a Howa. Otherwise I have a hunting style 12 power I can put on that is sortof reserved for a yet unrealized 223. Bleh. So much for planning.  (I still need something for the above Hammerli also)

Really needing to get a couple more scopes but instead spent money on a silencer today. Line discontinued and I can't not have this particular one.

Deal alert. Anyone needing a 3x9 scope should look here. I just recieved a Brushline this morning and got a chance to have a look through. Easily on par with Nikon Prostaff (remember them?) and should be because they are likely coming out of the same factory in Phillippines. Most of the scopes that I own have come from Pillippines (Nikon, Sightron, Tract and now Crimson Trace). This is a clearance deal and I have no idea how many they have to peddle. I'm going back for more. The Hardline has a .223/5.56 retical.

What's that, a flooded area adjacent to the river? Are you going to shoot the carp that get stuck in there when the water recedes?
