Any of you have a Kel-Tec Sub200 folding carbine? They look interesting.

I looked at another one of these yesterday. Used. The owner had heated up the front sight and knocked it off with a hammer. Then he put on a $200 Vortex red dot on the top rail so no more folding. It looked much better without that front sight but it was still a very light firearm.

I will need to shoot one before purchase I am just a little leery about all the plastic I am an old wood guy.

Umm yeah that's not how you mount a scope on a Ruger mini 14/30

Well my 6MM ARC project is finally coming together.

    20" Ballistic Advantage barrel,
Triggertech Adaptable trigger I've already installed in my Aero STS lower (seriously nice adjustable trigger)
    Silencerco ASR brake
15" AR Stoner handguard I got from Midway on clearance for $36 (should have bought spares)
Primary Arms slx 4-14x44 mil reticle
    Leupold QD low rings

    Ordered but not received yet
Aero Precision 6.5/6MM type II bolt/ m16 cut carrier assembly (Optic Planet sale)
    Aero Precision assembled upper receiver
    Odinworks click adjustable gas block
    Spikes Melonite gas tube
    BCM Mod 3B charging handle

Last four items are from Battlehawk Armory and all four together were under $200 (really not a typo) which was just too good to pass up. I also finally got my holster for my Beretta 92X RDO.

Since it was a custom it took almost 5 weeks, but since the 92X is still "new" to the market it was really tough finding what I wanted, most places never responded, and if they did just blew me off. Red River Tactical said, yes absolutely they would make me one so I jumped on it. 1/8in Kydex basket weave, level II, optic cut, drop belt for $120. I got the leg strap in case, but now I really don't see a need for it.

Next up will be dies, cases, bullets and powder and after that I'm definitely maybe going to save money from now on.... honest!

    Yeah...for the next one!

Looking forward to seeing the finished rifle and how it shoots. Sounds like you got some really good deals on pieces and parts

How do you like that holster? Looks like it has a strap...does it also have click retention? I need to get a better holster or two, or 10... But I hate not being able to handle something before I buy and having to make a blind purchase on something like that.

Yes,, upon a closer look, that would be correct . Idk how I missed that. I saw jankified scope mount, and thin trigger guard and thought mini.

I've got enough lowers so I'm just putting together a complete upper so I can do the switcheroo.

The holster is thick 1/8in Kydex so it's solid and appears better finished than a lot of others I've had. Like most of them it retains on the trigger guard and the screw just underneath that is used to adjust the amount of tension on it, with a thick rubber washer between the layers.

The strap is a spring loaded plastic "hood" that does not actually come in contact but will keep the pistol from coming out until you hit the release with your thumb and it snaps forward. The release is located where you thumb naturally wants to be when drawing the pistol so it's just a matter of practice.

One minor thing and one not as minor...
The nuts inside the holster don't stick out much and are recessed deeply, but if you put the pistol in crooked they will hit the muzzle and cause wear or scratches, so I trimmed a piece of sticky felt to cover them all. Which is why I had the felt in the first place, and also to eliminate rattles I've had with other holsters.
Second not as minor, I needed to notch the holster where the mag release button is. The pistol comes with a extended release and when I holstered it, it would release the mag.

As you probably know minor fitting is not uncommon for Kydex holsters, as all they do is use mold to form them so sometimes they need a little tlc... I just think the mag release should not have been a problem.

Is that the release for the "hood"?

Yes, nothing more than a catch you push slightly outward. It's an option if so inclined.
