Roundabout- .454 Casull- Ruger Super Redhawk- 7-1/2" barrel -$17.40- what I paid this evening for 6 rounds of Fed. Premium ammo.
Ahhhh. Makes sense. I looked up 500 s&w ammo and it was ~$50 a box of 20 RDS. AFAIK that's the priciest handgun round.
Unfortunately - no. Out the door was $58 +change for a box of 20. One time only deal for that price, but It needed some food. I'm shopping now.
Before I hit the sack- I've dealt with the Ruger SRH in .44 a number of times. The .454 feels better, much better. I'll attribute that to less weight out front. They use the same barrel contour on the OD, but the greater ID means less weight. I really like the balance of this thing. Thanks, JB
I love my SRH 44mag. It is a little nose heavy, like you said, especially with a scope on tope I think you need to consider reloading for that thing! I couldn't afford $2.90 per round! I biatch about having too many pennies invested per round. Let alone actual paper money!
Dear husband boggled by mind last night talking about reloading and grains and.........after reading this thread last night.
I'm starting to do some research on reloading, I think I might pull the trigger on some equipment soon. It'll let me put more rounds through my .357/38's, and even get my .44 mag out of the safe some.
Starting to scrounge .45 LC brass today. No way am I spending that much for ammo on a regular basis. I want it to be a pop-gun most of the time, a hammer when I need it to be.
So it's like a 357 mag in that instead of the magnums you can shoot .38s. Aside from that 357 mags are cheap compared to the big magnums.
Crap! I just gave away 50 I picked up at my club last week! You don't normally see 45lc brass laying around. Anything mag or big bore usually never hits dirt. Check starline brass out. New stuff and priced as good as what people charge for used. If it's not available, back order it and you should have it soon. Better yet, get on their email list and they give you advanced notice before it's even available.
