Not much planning has been done so far. On the food that will definitely be planned when we get a better idea of how many. I do plan on buying a bunch of meat at our local meat shop. Dexter Day will be bringing the Fireball. Of course we will be open for suggestions on the food line and for sure we want to plan on some good meals for Friday and Saturday. Neighbor has a couple piles of logs that need bucking. This is the fellow who had prostate cancer along with some other problems. He's having a problem getting wood and it gets worse every year. This year he has not been able to do much of anything. We plan on bucking the logs for him and should also plan on doing some splitting but if we don't get that done I'll do it after the GTG. He has a bigger tractor than ours and it also has a grapple. I'm hoping with that and with our tractor and pallet forks we can pick up the logs and guys can buck them without having to bend all the time and not even have to worry about hitting dirt. Hitting pallet forks? Well, that could cause a problem although I doubt it would hurt the forks much. Unfortunately I have not been able to do anything this winter but do hope to be able to do some work soon. If so, I'll have a couple of log piles to work on. There will be plenty to cut in the woods and no doubt some skidding too. I do hope and pray it will be like it was 2 years ago and not like last year. That was too wet. For splitting, there should be like last year and also most of that double white oak still needs splitting along with that smaller red oak. I plan on bringing up a couple totes full of walnut to burn in the camp fire. Will probably take some across the road too for the campers if they want. Oh yes, we also have a big white oak for Cole to tackle with the big saw. If some others want to play with it, that will be fun.
Do you have any that need climbed? I'll bring my gear. And I'm hoping to bring the Tipi as well....my son and I had it up for his winter Klondike Derby last weekend, which I'm proud to say his patrol won the first place by a big margin!!
Was pretty cool to see that setup last year Scotty. When we get closer I will put my saw list together.
Scotty Overkill we can no doubt use the climbing gear. I think Barcroftb will also be bringing his. walt I fully agree. When we had our first gtg, we weren't sure how this would turn out and it surely has gone over very well and the best part is meeting so many friends. We anxiously look forward to meeting them again this year and making some new friends too.
And maybe chipper1 will have his tractor holding all of that rather than a silly little ole skid steer.
You're the real MVP Brett! If I ever need to borrow a ladder I'll be sure to give you a call! I'm more of a rig small miss small kind of guy.
If Barcroftb doesn't have enough ladder's I'll bring a couple extra . I'll bring your riding buddy(Bryce) to Dennis, maybe he can do some climbing lol.
I'm all about calculated risk taking myself, but sometimes things don't go as expected, I think I've heard that called "experience" lol. If you need me to bring one by I'll be in Lake Odessa tonight, do you need the bucket ladder or the stem ladder.
Yup no substitute for experience. For example just thinking about using a ladder in a tree gives me the heeby-jeebys. No experience with it...
Compass, and if crossing a stream- a sextant. But, a string is just as good! Because, when the alcohol flows and someone asks for a screwdriver....
....no- you don’t understand, bud.... When eatonpcat gets to that point, the best way to get him to his tent is to employ the FEL.... trust that!
