Take really good care of the Onan. Good engine but parts supply is pretty poor.

    And $$$$

They sound so good. I had an Ingersoll with a 16 hp Onan.

Nice! That'll pull just about anything you need it to. If you have the ability or need, there's a good WH group on FB called Wheel Horse Junkies. Good source for parts and advice and all things WH.

Thank you, will check it out.

I found this website RedSquare Wheel Horse Forum and it's been really great. Tons of info, manuals, etc.. I even found a hitch sleeve setup specific for the WH exactly what I was looking for. They helped me get a handle on certain models and what not. All spoke very highly of my rig, very stout with a great engine and trans. I'll be sure to take good care of her. I can feel the different immediately when riding the WH compared to the craftsman. I feel like I am driving a tank.

Been there many times, just never joined up.
I bought a hitch receiver from eBay many moons ago.

I don't think that's pricey at all for what you get. And I LOVE how it mounts to your tractor. Very little chance of hurting the machine with that, heck it's so solid, you may want to add a little counterweight up front depending on how much weight you're towing! Textbook example of how to do it RIGHT.

If you need information re: the Onan - poke around some of the John Deere GT forums and look for threads about the 316/318 or the 400/420 as they all used Onan opposed twins for power. Sacrilegious I know, for a Red owner to go sneaking about Greenland, but there were tens of thousands of Onan's under green hoods. ;)
