Hopefully getting my own pellet grill for xmas. I've got loads of questions already, But one to start it off with is typical heating pellets. Can they be used to cook with?? Scot Linkletter I'm going to break my grill in with your MWP blend and do a full clean up after the cure. But, Do you see any issues with using the MWP to cook with??
I don't carry insurance for that so I can't recommend it. But, I don't buy pellets for my grill because I'm not going to sue myself.
I used easy heats in my pellet grille once and I ain't been right since. I use the grilling pellets because I like the different flavors but I wouldn't hesitate to use a heating pellet if I know they don't contain binders and they are hardwood.
Or demolition debris. Random added flavor depending on the paint. Or, even better, pressure treated wood with formaldehyde. I don't know what other people make their pellets from so I don't use random heating pellets in my grill.
Hardwood only! If you were to use wood for grilling/bbq, you would be using only hards... With heating pellets, who knows what you get. Maybe occasional plastic, moldy wood, ... Not food grade stuff.
aluminum foil is your friend....makes for easy clean up,line the drip tray or belly of it whatever you got.....chicken really makes a mess if you do it a higher temp.
practice time is up!!!! wheres the food pics dood? yer killin me. a tuna melt or a hot dog would be better than nuttin
Wifey put me on a diet again. Me doc was pizzy abouts me cholesterol....... Plus me whimpy cause da cold. No likey cold no more! Nope, It can wait until its warm!!
I don’t think we ever really determined that it’s ok to cook with heating pellets....I never would. Are Wood Pellets Safe to Cook with? | Grilling Zen
I would never cook with any pellets I haven't made myself - even pellets sold for grilling - because I don't know what's in them. But that's just me.
I am of the same theory , so far I have only used MWP blended pellets in both my grills as I know that they do not contain anything but WOOD . I do not trust or let me be less harsh I am not sure that these BBQ grilling pellets do not use additives but have confidence because of my time here and Scot that MWP only uses wood and mostly hardwood with the exception of some softwood for binding purposes. I have had Zero issues using these pellets in either of my grills Recteq 590 and Recteq 380 bullseye which is my workhorse as my wife needs searing on her nightly steaks and this grill cranks up to 800* so the searing grates reach 1000* , so 3 minutes each side and the steaks are cooked to perfection for my honey .
For those that are Sam's club members they sell Smokehouse pellets which are a blend for 15 bucks for a 40 lb bag and they are my new favorite pellet. Excellent taste , great heat and very little dust.
