these are the tree's i'm trying ''cull'' out, they are dangerous, tree's, and if i don't take them down, they might come down and it could be really bad. There is lots of them left, and i'm trying to open it up so she can get a mower, brush hog or aI tractor in there to to maintain the property. I have to admit, i really enjoy knocking them down. :D And i stacked the brush from each tree as i fell them, so i really did get a lot done. Its stacked, covered and ready to burn on the next burn day.

You are so right! It almost makes me cry sometimes as I walk through our woods and see all the places where there used to be trees. Now there is lots of sunlight getting in so hopefully that will help some regrowth.

I told our grand daughter that if she wanted some tree's planted back i'd buy her some. Thinking about some maple tree's and put then in the right places to get good shade and not be in the way of future mowing machines, or maybe even a tractor. We live in the PNW and trees will grow at a pretty good pace. Three yrs ago i planted a small leaf maple in our front yard, it was funny, it produced just enough shade for me and the dog. lol. Now, 3 yrs later, its got a decent canopy, and some really good shade. I think it was originally a 3 yr old tree when i bought it.

Well more time spent at the grand daughters place today, cut more tree's . One picture showing tree on the ground, it leaned heavy to the left and, had a big bow in it to boot. Wanted to lay it right along side the pile of brush.Bingo, right on the money

When i put the first picture up, it was hard to see, i hit the wrong button, this is a better picture so you can see more of what i did, i had to literally swing the tree hard to the right, and wanted it by the existing brush pile. It worked out perfectly. I'm a happy camper :):D

image.jpeg image.jpeg Just got back home a while ago, was able to get all 5 piles of brush totally burned up today. Took a while to get them going, but, with the old Sthil 420 back pack blower, got them all going and those piles are nothing but ashes now.

Today was a fun day! Took our 9 yr old grandson over to the grand daughters place with me. We're watching him for the weekend. Had a great time, i'm guessing he loaded the ''wood wagon'' about 10 times, took it to the stack and unloaded it. I fell a couple of more trees, limed them up and put them in a couple of new burn piles. He worked his butt off, lol. And he's a great worker, i was impressed. When we came home, we unloaded the little bit of wood i brought home, then the saws, cable, chain, etc. I kept him with me the whole time, unloading the tools. Then i told him to come out back with me as he headed toward the front door. He asked what we were going to do, i told him, ''you have to get the wood in after you put the tools up, that's part of the job. He stuck right with me, while we loaded the wheelborrow. We went inside, he laid down on the floor by the stove, ha,ha, i told him to hop on the couch and i got him a pillow, soon he was asleep, lol. He's a great kid, he lost his dad almost 3 yrs ago,in a truck wreck, and he's a pretty special grandson. Ryder's just like his dad, a great guy, great worker, and he's smart, very smart. I had a blast with him, he's going to be somebody some day, i can see it coming.

Hate that your grandson lost his dad like that. I did too, back in June '01. He was 83, worked nearly every day in his woodshop, building furniture. I shared a few pictures on the "lunchtime scrounge" thread. If yours and Backwoods Savage birthday is October 26, y'all share the day with him. He taught me so much, just as y'all have the younger generation. Thanks for what y'all are doing. Hope I can make it that far.

You and the Mrs have the same birthday? That's cool and economical at the same time.

Yup, mine is on the 26th of Oct, its great you have so many mental picts of your dad, Ryder remembers his dad very well, even though it makes me sad to hear him talk about him. His dad was really proud of him, and i know he would really be proud of him now, if he were still here, BUT, i feel he already knows. thanks for the comments. I'll include some pictures in the future, ha,ha, Ryder has quite the personality!!
