Without dipping into forbidden territory, I think the stoves will be worth something if oil, ng or propane gets too expensive/not readily available.
Yeah I know. Thing is that most of them just moved here and want the montana dream, without the little bit of work input. I make money off this mentality though. I thought about starting a thread on just the used stoves and their prices here in and around my area. Ridiculous what people are selling their woodburners for.
FB and CL are loaded with the old stoves around here right now. I think they are breeding It's really startling to see that many for sale. I bet the stories those old stoves could tell would be interesting.
Remember it was brought up what somethings worth? Well, here's a perfect example. I was hunting for quite some time now for a Mama or Papa bear for my work shop when it's built. Last night before nighty night time I was trolling Craigslist and BEHOLD, a Fisher Mama Bear for sale with 25ft of stainless double wall insulated Selkirk pipe, with (T) and Cap. The whole set up, $400.00. Do you think I called him? Do you think I drove 90 miles each way to get it? YOU DAM RIGHT I DID! And, I asked him if he'd give me a little break because gas and tolls were gonna be over $50.00 and he said Sure! Trucked it home for $350.00! This Baby will be my shop stove! I now have 2 Mama's and a Grandma for New Hampshire. I gotta bust out all the old fire brick, It's all split to hell, once one breaks out, it "should" fall apart, but I don't want to jinx myself...
No problem whatsoever, I got kicked off the other wood burning forum because they thought I was hijacking threads but thats another story.
