Been in on a couple of those jobs. Only we had a grapple on a front end loader. Stand in the trailer and buck at waist height, and let the rounds fall right in the trailer.

Doesn't get any better than whacking off the stumps and tops, and taking the nice straight trunk home.

There was one cherry with an old home made tree stand in it, but most of the nails stayed in the boards and came out of the tree. this wasn't ever a fence line so shouldn't be too much metal in there. So far no rocked chains, hope it stays that way.

Tree lines here have barbed wire in them. Aways in the really old and fat trunks. Usually is still a valid property line so these are not desirable unless they are dead.

There is only two trees in this line that are bigger then 14 inches and the logging company is taking those so i should be good. Most of these trees are 6-10" so I'm thinking that I will be ok for metal.

Well today I got to spend some time bucking up the log load I brought home. Nice little surprise, the two logs I thought were ash turned out to be black walnut! Never burned any of that so see how it burns in a few years.

Nice Walnut score. I always try to save the little walnut I get for a campfire when camping with the kids that way I can watch it burn.
Smells good, burns nice, and makes for an impressive firewood stack at the campground....:campfire:
