Nice! Are you invisible? Looks like "you" are holding on to the wheelbarrow with both hands..... ! View attachment 55078 View attachment 55080
We used to breed the little devils. Had about 22 at one point, but they were being sold/traded too, and then there was a litter or 2 every year. Had one named Dora (the explorer), who would go out and bring back mice/moles/voles quite often and drop 'em on the porch for us. What a sweety she was,....but a killer. She would take naps under the old Ashley. Big Boyis the only one we have left, and he's about 11 now. Spends a lot of time on my lap.
They are sneaky little bandit's, takin off with stuff they not suppose to, one of em grabbed up my pack of cigarettes outa my tool box and took off ,then wanted to play, you chase me , cigs were damp but they dried out, the little stinker
These rounds have been a thorn in my side since last fall too. Had the tree taken down about a month after the hernia surgery, then I got real busy getting all that Oak, then the snow and cold started.....so there they sat all winter. Did about a 1/3 cord of it last year, but there's still close to that left (a small batch I got done after the Maple). Had a nice day today, so I did some more. There's another 1/2 hour to 45 minutes left to do and the rest are the smaller rounds. Lots of splitter trash in this stuff with all the knots.....what a PITA. Still worth it as this much will get me through the first month of burning.
Starting to look that way. I'm trying to take advantage of the weather as I can.......it's getting nicer.
I was planning a good morning of splitting here...weatherman said rain moving in late afternoon...so why is everything wet outside this morning ? He missed again.
Another decent day, so after morning chores, I got out and spent a little time splitting up the rest of the Spruce, then stacked it.:stacke: Total of 2/3 cord out of that tree. Now all I need to do is rake up all the detritus. Spruce has a bad habit of creating a lot of it. Here's today's pic of the Maple I stacked a few days ago. Notice the checking........must be dry already.
Stacks look great PD! You got a lot done lately! I bet that spruce will make for some good shoulder season fires. I know your just joking about that maple being dry, but goes to show you what properly, stacked off the ground, in the sun stacks can do in just a few days.
Got most of the raking done too. I can move onto other things now. Got a little work done in the garden. Started dinner before I started raking. No-knead bread (which I started last night), and hamburger/veggie soup. Mmmm.
This one's dirt simple. Brown a pound of ground beef, throw in a big jug of V-8 juice, and some mixed veggies, then let it simmer for a while. Two bowls of soup and a couple big slices of buttered no-knead, and I'm all gooder.
I put a lot of weird stuff in soup sometimes but I use my judgment and it turns out good. Sometimes if I make a huge pot except for breakfast, I will just eat that for 3 days
