    I love it!

The wife really enjoys the heat, and the flame. It's still different for her, but there's so much more heat, and the light is pretty much the same. Now, if I built a huge fire in the old fireplace, there would be more light, but the heat thing with the insert is amazing. Loading the fp full wouldn't do as much for heating purposes compared to the insert. That's for sure.

The fan is quieter, and it does put out a lot more heat too.

I bet 2-3 small splits of wood puts out as much heat out of the hot stove as the FP loaded slammed , piled full.

That's probably about right, in my limited use with this insert. The real test is when it gets cold this winter. It's going to get really cold at some point this winter.

Oh there still wont be a comparison. A FP sucks the heat out no matter if its 80F outside or 29F.

Trust me you won't look back. Your wood consumption will be cut in half for 2-3x the heat!

Nice work and a great looking stove. When it gets really cold, that is when you will really love the insert. Congrats!!!!!

I just checked the thermostat, which is quite a way from the insert. It's 34° outside now, and the t stat is reading 71°. It's set at 67°.:dancer::dennis:

And yeah, no furnace turning on at all. :)

    Done.

I had to turn the fan on the stove down, as well as turn the fan on for the forced air system to cool it off a bit.

It's about 76 in the family room.

Get small fans and point them down your halls or doorways to blow the child into the stop e room. It will lower the temp and move the heat to other parts of house. The blower fan makes you loose your heat as you heat up the duct work or loose heat to the attic or crawl.

My stove room is 81 right now you will get use to it.

The furnace is in the basement, and the ducting is in the floor. The attic is well insulated, and I added more vents to the soffits this fall.

I'm fine with the ducting robbing some heat. It's still staying in the house.

But yes, I'll need to have fans blowing into my stove room.

I saw that and didn't even go there.

There's no children here, unless you count this 40 yr old and his 2 labs....

Haha! I was like did I write this? What the heck does that mean?

It should read " a fan to blow the cold air into the stove room"

I got what you meant clemsonfor :)

So, you guys will get a laugh out of this, but I got my first real overnight coals, from Sunday night, this am. I simply put about 3 splits in just before I left at 7am, and I left it turned down low. When I got home at 5:15, there were coals left again.

So I reloaded, and its been choochin' since then.

It's 71 at the thermostat way down the hall, and like 75 in the stove room.

Again, most importantly, the furnace is dormant.
