I am. Here's another progress report......Did about 1.5 loads today between other stuff. Pretty hot today, so that's all I got done, but things are still movin' along. ETA: There's a little Beech in the trailer, and the top foot or so of the stack right behind the trailer is Beech (the darker stuff). This particular Beech is a biatch. VERY gnarly and sorta' stringy. The larger rounds were close to 30" if I remember right.
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, Sunshine don't make me lazy, a little bit more a little bit more :stacke:
zap, I need at least another cord delivered to finish '17-18. Once I load the shed, I'll start acquiring stuff for '18-19. Everybody says how good this Ash and Beech is and how quick it dries, but I'm still gonna' try gettin' back on the 3 year plan. Love the sunshine, but I burn if I even show myself to it, so long sleeves, long pants, and a straw hat are normal attire......even in the heat.
I've had these timbers since last Thurs., so I finally set them up for another stack now that the splitter is back up and running. Casper was a big help. Darned horse flies (or whatever they are) keep landing on his snout. They've drawn blood a couple times.
We have those nasty deer flies here They buzz around your head and land in your hair and ears looking for a place to grab a snack. I grab the battery powered fly zapper, wave it around over my head where they are on the trail in the woods and the flies fly right into it. Zap !! They'll attack the rear view mirrors on the car too.
We had some of my niece's kids over for an afternoon and her boy wanted to check it out. I warned him not to stick his finger in it and hoped one word of caution would be enough. He took it into the other room and about two minutes later came back in the kitchen, put it down saying nothing and went outside. I waited until he was gone to start laughing cuz I knew exactly what he had done. Wasn't gonna add insult to injury. Edit: They break easily ( for 5 bucks what do you expect ) . You can't "swat" with them even though they call it a swatter. You just kinda sneak up on a fly and let them fly into it.
Here's a couple pics of today's progress. First load already stacked, and 2nd in the trailer and stacked. It's a little warm in the sun, but that's where the rounds and splitter are. Still some shade where I'm stacking though. Well, "there was a problem uploading your file", on both pics, so hmmm.
I fell in to a burning ring of firewood, I cut, and I split, and I stacked, and the stacks went higher. Then they burned, burned, burned When I set set 'em on fire That ring of firewood. No copyrights were harmed in the making of that.
I swear the deer from all around would make that wall 'o wood a nightly destination and have fun jumping over it and kicking it. if it were at my place.
Gotta' keep pluggin' away. Still close to another cord to split....Ash and Beech. This should be the last load for this stack. I'll go back out in a while to stack it up. I plan to just keep splitting until I get a chance to get more timbers.
So, this is the start of something bigger...........those splits look lonely, so I added a few more. Doesn't look like it, but there's close to 1/3 cord of Ash there in splits.
