I believe everything other than the main trunk is ready now but I will check it when I start bucking & splitting.
There is one more big dead standing oak that I will get if I can keep from damaging any surrounding trees, also a rather large limb that is down & a downed tree in the same ditch I will have to look at next time I am there.
Then there is this brute that I am hoping to take down at some point over the fall/winter. It’s over 48” dbh & not much smaller up to the forks. I would really like to drop 2-3 forks off it then take it down but I don’t have the equipment for that.
I didn’t have to help harvest today so I went back to my aunts to get the dead oak limbs out of the ditch. I got these out. And in the process of getting them, I found this nice dead barkless bur oak & all it’s limbs; which made for a nice load to take home. The main trunk is still needing bucked up at a later date.
I was hoping that it was ready to burn but the bigger pieces tested 24% - 32%,so it all needs to go to the outdoor stacks for a year or so. Most of the stuff in the 10” - 12” range tested good though.
