Please explain the oak. I've seen live oak before but never with all that white on it. Is that a moss?

It’s called Spanish moss. Really a flowering plant. I tried to start it here in Kentucky but it was too cold. Makes for nice scenery hanging in a live oak stands.

Good afternoon all. Not much going on. Rain came in about 1;15. This was the warmest morning. We have had in a few weeks. Have been getting up to temps on the 40/50 range. This morning was 67. Right now it is 71 but that is the highest we are suppose to get today. Enjoy the rest of your day all.

We went over to St Simons Island today, neighboring island about 1 mile north of Jekyll Island. Toured the lighthouse, walked on the pier, got some pictures of the top of the auto carrier ship. Met a guy today that is working on the salvage crew. There are 4500 cars on that ship. I was way off. IMG_20190923_162015244.jpg view from top of the lighthouse. The St Simons Pier. There has been a big shark or two here before. IMG_20190923_162648141.jpg IMG_20190923_161629517.jpg The lighthouse and wood stove in the keeper's house kitchen IMG_20190923_160821032_HDR.jpg IMG_20190923_154805924.jpg
How about this wild live oak with the deck around it? IMG_20190923_144427129.jpg IMG_20190923_144458644.jpg We ate lunch and dessert at 2 little hole-in-the-wall places friend told us about. This place is a hot dog/burger place that also makes a super pork chop sammich. After those two stops, who needs dinner... IMG_20190923_132219672_TOP.jpg IMG_20190923_134341368.jpg

Good morning everyone. I waffled on yesterday's goals. It was too hot and sticky to get into painting the pool. I carried oak into the basement until about 9, then gave up on outdoor stuff. I did catch the mouse ( actually a vole) in the pool. He made the mistake of running into the bowl of the deep end, and couldn't get traction to climb back out, so I caught him with a rag.
It'll be in the 70's today, so I think I'll mow the lawn and cut up the last two oak logs.
A fellow at the hardware store told me a story about a "black hickory" that needed to be cut for land clearing, in the town next to us. He said Remington bought it for 40K to use for gunstocks. I looked it up, it's a type of pignut hickory. I know we have pignuts up here in NH, so I suppose it's possible that a black hickory could make it up here. Or, it may be just one of those stories.
    Have fun today!

I hope your mother does well in rehab. Is the rehab facility close by to you? I hope she has the drive to do the exercises. Physical therapy can be hard for older people to see as a help, and not some sort of torture.

It's in Macon GA, same big city were she had surgery, about 50 miles from us, but way better care than our local center.
