Good morning all! Chilly 30°F here. Supposed to get warmer today. Rains moving in for the rest of the week though but in the 70's! Grandkids coming over today, moving their bucket calves from one pen in the barn to another that has an outside rum. Will try to get Mrs. JW to take some pictures and while inside during the rain, will try to post them. Have a great day, stay safe and healthy. E-Learning assignments need to be posted. Have a great one all!

Good morning all. I have been missing this thread. Overcast and warm with the promise of rain this afternoon. campinspecter took the Toyota down island for a recall fix. Just me and the dogs left home and I have to remember to run the wood boiler today. Good thing I have a timer on my phone.

I have to say I have wondered about that, but I don't know.

I wondered about climate change in relationship to the raccoons now getting established up north of Grand Marais as well. They were not there until about 2000. Same with wood tics. In 10 years living there in the same woods, outdoors all the time, I never found a single wood tic on me, our kids or our dog. Now I pick up a few every summer. But then again there are more deer up there now as well, whereas before we had more moose. They say the tics have been bad for the moose. But thankfully the moose seem to be having a nascent recovery and we are seeing them more often.

Regarding the raccoons, a buddy of mine, a trapper said that the raccoons are now up there because not enough people are trapping beavers. With more dams and ponds there are more frogs, bugs and other invertebrates for them to eat. So who knows for sure.

NH is supposed to have feral swine.
"In southwestern New Hampshire, where the vast majority of the state's feral boar exist, they are considered the property of Blue Mountain Forest Association, a privately owned preserve located in Croydon, NH Permission is required to hunt free-ranging wild boar that escape from this property. If permission is granted (which it typically is), you will need to have a current regular NH hunting license, and you must hunt within legal hunting hours. Note that feral wild boar are limited in number and are difficult to locate without local knowledge."

I shudder at the thought of wild boars (porcine) on our farm. Heck when our own domesticated get loose they do so much damage accidentally.

Wild hogs are very destructive. We have them down here. Some places they may tear up 5 or more acres of cropland.

Good morning everyone. Excited here about a nice spring morning (calm and 50f). Light rain predicted through this evening, which is needed.

    Good morning, everyone.

I'm taking advanagte of the invigorating cool air to split some rounds I cut yesterday. Maybe cut some more, afterwards.

I'll then do a yard walkaround, as I think tomorrow I'll give the yard its first mowing.

    Stay safe
    Stay healthy

The frame on my truck had been bent, when we got it on the lift you could see the spot on each side.
We took the bed off and he boxed in the frame on the inside and then we added a piece down the outside of the frame all the way to the hitch.

The spot to the right of the bolt is where it bent

My nephew, Austin, getting it done. It is cool how the camera caught the light from the welding. 0512200959_HDR~2.jpg

The outside plate. 0512201407.jpg We found out the rear seal on the tranny and seal on rear end were leaking, so he replaced those too.
