Good morning everyone! Just easy stuff for me today, dump runs, shopping, and maybe even a little house cleaning. Yesterday I came up with a new reason to buy a splitter. It turns out that black locust gets a lot tougher as it dries. I wanted to split a few medium sized rounds cut a year ago, and had to cut a kerf with my saw, and pound in my biggest wedge to get them in half. I have more than a cord of rounds, halves, and quarters that all need to be split smaller at some point. Not tackling that job by hand! Have a great day!
Good morning y'all. Hope y'all have a TERRIFIC TUESDAY. Working for the man again today. Did get a little wood work done last night, went over our son's new house about 8:30, set up the woodyard lights and 1 hour later had finished the decking on his porch. It was nice to be able to work with him. It was a nice 58° this morning at 5:30 breakfast time. That's the high for today, rain started about 8 and the temps will be going down. Freeze warning forecasted, upper 20's. Guess the little stove will be saying "I think I can, I think I can"...hope y'all stay safe in the storms headed your way... GOD LOVES YOU AND ME.
Good morning. The only wood handling today, will be feeding the wood stove. Upper teens and breezy today.
No kidding! On the plus side, it sure is fun to load the stove up with oak, and not get cooked out of the house.
I have a bag of saved chicken bones in the freezer. It gets added to, over time. I think today will be a good day to toss them into a stock pot and boil them up. The extra moisture in the air will be a benefit.
Good morning everyone! I caught the setting moon this morning, the Beaver Moon, the moon for us woodcutters. I might split some frozen oak rounds in the driveway today, just for yucks. Want to hear something creepy? I got this catalog in the mail yesterday. I don't think I've ever googled plasma cutting, it's got to be because I've mentioned it on this forum. So much for the anonymity of screen names. Stay warm and have a great day!
Been around for 40 years. Since the "world of computerized" robots, people have been making art with it. It was invented to cut precise parts for machinery and much "finer" cutting processes instead of the old Oxygen and acetylene cutting torch.
Good morning y'all. Hope y'all have a WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY. Working again today, so my hunny will have to feed the stove. Got plenty of wood inside, so that won't be a problem. Finally had a good frost this morning, coldest day so far. Put a 4-5" round of hickory and 3 splits of dead white oak last night about 10:00, didn't pack it full. A piece of tulip poplar, a couple pieces of oak and it was burning nicely again this morning. Glad to finally be burning more. "I had no shoes and complained, until I met a man with no feet" I thank GOD for my friends on this forum, and our ability to find and burn wood to stay warm. I hope those that don't have shelter, will be able to stay warm somewhere. GOD LOVES YOU AND ME
Good Morning.... ... Looks like I'll be back to burning 4 or 5 sticks once or twice a day for the next week... Back to more normal temps...
