    I think with the slower burn in the cat stove it is just too hard. It does much better mixed. The old smoke dragon I could load full of locust

    Good info, thanks for the heads up. I loaded the firebox with 70/30 mix of chestnut oak and BL nuggets last night. Woke to house being 76 this morning.

    No cat here but I'll start with mixing it on the coldest nights when I do get to it.

    Same thing that Honey locust does. I don't ever burn a stove full of it but on days where I'd like a bit of heat all day without reloading at noonish, the locust just does it's thing. It's also great packed in a stove with a bunch of other heavy hitters
